Ah - the chat has taken on a life of it's own

A very busy day with DD today - who would have thought that it would take 2.5 solid hours of encouraging your child to sit down and focus to get through one day of schoolwork? They are definitely ramping up the difficulty! I was awoken to DD telling me that the cat had been sick in the living room, only to go downstairs, clean it up, go back to bed for 5 minutes and then drag myself downstairs for a coffee. Mrs E then decided that I was "in a mood" :o  It's half seven, I've cleaned up puke and I just don't feel chatty woman :s

No news on the diet front, I only lost 0.2lbs. I am wondering whether my macros are out of whack - think I'm not eating enough fat. I think this should be remedied easily enough - adding another couple of tbsps of double cream should do it.

On the financial front, I looked in YNAB and I have thousands of pounds in my current account 2/3 of the way through the month! Granted, it's all budgeted for a mix of fun and essential things, but I feel like a growned up B) We had a negative net worth in terms of current accounts and savings this time last year.

Ooh that is fantastic. Mine reached 8.6lbs yesterday. I really hope that achievement is spurring you on. A small piece of cheese, cubed as a filling snack is the other super-easy way you could add a little fat without suffering! - Fat is the filler-upper when you are not eating starchy carbs.

My joints feel better and the sale item I bought from Weird Fish in a size smaller fits, but being a bit stretchy, it shows the bulge above my waist where (some of) the fat sits! I will have to be feeling very positive to wear it other than under a big baggy jumper. I'm still at the upper end of overweight/lower obese depending on the BMI monitor. Not comfortable is where I describe it and that is not where I want to be.

I watched a thing on TV last night where four people who had combined exercise with diet and had made incredible changes were set up as weight-loss heroes and potential mentors - the two dieters had to choose a mentor. I was quite sceptical but I do like an inspiring story - it was on C4 I think with one of the Banjo brothers presenting. I especially liked the paleo diet combined with a range of exercise types. I could see me doing that long term if I want the loss to keep going after this 8 weeks or so.

edit - fantastic financial difference too. It's sweating the small stuff over a sustained period combined with conscious spending (cutting out the carp spends) that makes the difference!

Over 9lb this morning. slow but steady progress. I was wondering if you have a particular target in mind ed, or are you doing 12 weeks to see where that takes you?

@Suffolk_lass - I'd like to lose 38lbs by 31st of March, 21lbs lost to date.

No change today, I think my BSD has possibly morphed into a keto diet? I made the conscious decision to up my calories to 1200 as of yesterday, as my energy levels remain low lowish and I've started to develop a few aches that feel like I just don't have enough in the tank to power the mighty engine that is me 🤪

I am pleased with my start and don't want to risk it all by burning out. 1200 much more manageable and should still create a deep deficit. Experimenting with different modes of eating as well. For example, today I'm having 4 very small meals/snacks instead of breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    Well done on 9lbs

Thank you - I am relieved it has moved down again. Hopefully through the first stone number next.

You are right to modify yours rather than be miserable and feel awful. I do sympathise - DH is eating the same as me except for his late night snacking and the carbs he discreetly has. Without puddings (ice cream!) or alcohol or biscuits he has lost 6lbs over the same time and I think he just burns much more than me. Yesterday he moved a load of stuff from my toolshed to the pig shed and will be insulating the back with cardboard and putting in an electric supply ready for my replacement (beer) fridge-freezer that is coming on Monday. It is only a few metres from the back door, outside which the failing one sits. Meanwhile I made marmalade, so maybe the sedentary nature of my activity is the reason he burns more lol.

Oo love the smart BMI calculator. This is the  first time I have been in the "normal" range. I score 27 on both the smart calculator and the NHS calculator. The NHS says I am moderately overweight and need to lose 9 lb. That was where my head was at tbh. Although now the smart calculator says I am a healthy weight ....... cream bun anyone ?
