£116.09 paid off CCs (regular payments)
My back pay will not be paid until April - to say I am disappointed is an understatement. I'm trying to find a silver lining, the best I can do is that at least it will be a full year of back pay, plus a 6.5% pay rise from that point onwards?0 -
As you say, very disappointing. Can you think of it as ready made savings? The other aspect you should consider, is what happens if it is not processed at the end of March. Does that back pay (added to the pay-rise) negatively impact your tax position? Added together, do they mean the difference between 40% tax and not in tax year 19-20?Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Boo to that news
It gets worse. Now the chat is that people are starting to expect pay cuts in 2 years to help fund equal pay (which I fully support as long overdue). I'm trying to be optimistic (cutting wages is not the only way to save money), but it feels a bit like a kick in the sensitive parts!
£4.83 paid off a credit card.
Off to grind through another day of my largest piece of work in years0 -
If that is the big equal pay case (IRO £500m) that made the national press, the leader indicated it would be settled through capitalisation of assets (ie mortgaging the much valued historic buildings) - not through pay cuts and job cuts. The Unions are strong throughout the public sector in Scotland. They will stand up for you.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Hi SL.
Yes, that one! I suppose it's not too "outing" to discuss it, we must employ xx,xxx men who could be me!
While the issue of settlement is being covered by one time measures, they have also committed to changing pay and grading for all staff. After a decade of cuts, nobody is optimistic that this will be funded in any manner other than robbing Peter to pay Paul(ine).
That's not intended as a sexist comment - in fact the most concerned colleagues are well paid women.0 -
I did not take it as such. The article (FT, I think) said that the Job Evaluation Scheme in place since 2006 used criteria that were weighted towards male jobs.
That is pretty much what happened in Birmingham and Morrisons - In Morries they weighted the logistics and warehouse posts (male dominated) more than the equivalent skills levels on the shop-floor and in the offices. If I recall from Birmingham the fallout is closer to £1bn and it was the care assistants, nursery workers and office staff who lost out to the grave-diggers, refuse collectors and gardeners.
When the place I worked for merged with another it was awful. I can't say more without outing myself.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

That would explain why Birmingham have sold off so many properties!0

£43.43 paid off a CC (regular payment and a TT).
I think I am going to fall short of my £15k by Easter challenge by about £250. Not too annoyed, as 3 small windfalls that are in the pipeline have not materialised yet.0 -
£7.99 paid off a CC.
I am skint - roll on Tuesday payday!0
