Hi guys
haven't been around much the last few days life seems really busy. I keep trying to post but by the time I've read everyone's updates I'm out of time and don't post!
a few small things over the last few days which I was pleased about:
* fixed the zipper on my coat (wouldn't unnzip) by watching a youtube clip and a pencil!
* got fireworks tickets for last night in advance and saved £5
it's the first proper display we have taken madam to, she loved it and her face was priceless when they started :A
* picked up ribeye steak offer at the local butchers £20 for 11 steaks :T oh is pleased!
* car was in having mot so caught bus to work (I work in a different town to where I live) initially I thought it was a massive ball ache but actually I got quite a bit done on the bus and as I had clients I can claim some of it back so it costs less than driving :T
this has lead me to think I might be able to achieve my dream of ditching my car  I'm going to trail a month without it and see how I get on. Am very excited to think it will actually save me money. I spend about £100 on petrol and put aside £60 a month for repairs etc (actually think I need to increase this as have had a couple of expensive repairs that have had to come from savings this last year). Whereas I think with what I can claim back it'll cost me about £50 pcm on the bus :T oh suggested I try it out until my ins needs renewing in March before deciding....
Anyway not sure what my plans are today yet xDF as at 30/12/16

oh my goodness the world of repairing zippers! I will almost never need to buy another zip again! I bought an item that was on sale for £3 because the zip had separated. It's a lovely little playsuit. Quick youtube search and it's a 15 min job to repair :TDF as at 30/12/16

DNMS so if any of us need zippers replacing, ur the person!:T:T
It's interesting that u say it only took a 15 min job, we have a small shop where I live that does repairs etc, they charge quite a bit to change a zip:eek:.
The firework display sounded fab, creating great memories for madam:)
FVD the advent calender is a Kelloggs one, it has one of those small cereal boxes for each day. Someone did a costing and worked out that it was actually cheaper buying the cereal boxes this way unless the mini cereal packs were on a special, in which case u are paying slightly more thru an advent calender format. DD was thrilled with it, not bothered by the chocolate one at all!!!
That is annoying about it purse, I would have not been happy and very grumpy:(
Right off to clean the cats that decided to use the house as a speed track at 5am. They're back in bed, I'm up having a cuppa listening to the radio.
Have a good day everyone xDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

ha ha yep come to me and I will forward you a link to a whole plethora of youtube tutorials! :rotfl:
ah yes it just is so lovely to see the look of pure joy on her face. Very captivating for me and at times I was just looking at her rather than the display
She has been given to being a very anxious child due to her early experiences but then there are times where you think she would be anxious (and in fact a lot of children are) but she'll be so in the moment and experiencing pure joy and it is priceless :A DF as at 30/12/16

Morning folks,
I hope everyone is ok. The weather here is a bit spicy today! Massive heavy hail storms!
Sorry for not posting over my weekend - I seem to get so busy and cba turning the computer on (def too much effort to type on my phone)
Car must go back to the garage after the eye-watering £469.50 MOT bill. The steering wheel is no longer straight!! plus there seems to be an intermittent rattling coming from the front somewhere
Got into work today and looks like there was a bit of a poop-storm here too on my project (I feel for you here Purps). But as far as I can tell:
a: It's not my fault
b: my team dealt with it all very well
c: I don't have to follow up with anything
Some mse bits over my weekend:- OH did two gigs (thank goodness for monies coming in again!)
- OH got a lift with the drummer last night so saved tunnel fee and fuel
- I used up some left over dinner for my brekkie
- I was very careful with the shopping and only ordered what was needed. took advantage of free click and collect.
- OH removed some extra links in his watch with the help of YouTube (it wasn't the normal pin type). Jeweller's fee saved.
- Put washing out on line
- Sold my fitbit and used the money towards a mini dehumidifier that I wanted
- Drive down to local riverbank to watch firework display up-river for free (weather dependent!) - walking down there for free as suspect parking will be at a premium.
- Meals from plan
- Reconcile budget sheet
- Renew home insurance
- Nip to B&M this lunchtime as we have simultaneously run out of ketchup, bbq sauce, tabasco, mayo and salad cream  and it's much cheaper than buying them from the supermarket.
- log cals in free app - done
- Heating on low or off despite the grotty weather.
- Investigate my Tesco clubcard vouchers. Apparently some will expire soon. Perhaps I can use them for a Christmas gift. - not valid for what I wanted to buy

- Remind OH to send his invoices - done

CLF, you could always convert them to restaurant or days out tokens to give as gifts if you have anyone they would suit? I noticed also recently you can convert them to use at a couple of seed/plant nurseries, I was very tempted by a trug like LaE has!
Resisting the trug (I'm going to use old tyres next year, thank you, Pinterest!) I'm going to do an online shop with mine today.
I also resisted the urge to go back to sleep this morning as I get nothing done when I sleep late, not just because I've missed half a day but it sets the tone to be lazy for the rest of the day.
I plan to open the doors and windows (it's bright though crisp here) for some fresh air while I get the dishwasher and washing machine rumbling.
Quick tidy of sitting room.
Pack up another batch for Amazon before the two lines that are selling run out.
Hope they don't lose them.
Sort some clean washing.
Retrieve an old pot of fish food from DS's room instead of buying more.
Clean fish tank.
Change cat litter.
Clean bathroom and change towels.
Defrost some LO beef in gravy for a roast later, might need to buy sausages for the stuffing but will check the freezer first.
Have a good day all

I'm debating whether it is better to convert to vouchers or just to top up the grocery spends. We often overspend on groceries so it may be more helpful in this area... one has to be used by the end of the month so I have a little time to ponder.LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -
Afternoon all

Cold here, and intermittently pours down with rain. I am going to light the wood stove shortly, or at least get the wood etc that I need in ready to do it after the dog's afternoon walk! OH is in bed with his bad back
Not sure how long he intends to stay there. He has been up and had a bath etc but reckons bed is the least painful place, so lots of running up and down stairs for me  Have to see what he is like tomorrow, maybe get him to the doctors.
Anyway, today's list:
Dog walks x 2 (1 done so far) free exercise
Shopping (done) spent just under £30, a third of which was OH's beer. Still, that should last longer than usual as I won't be trundling up and down stairs with that! He will have to make do with tea, which is at least cheaper
Sold a small ebay item, more pleased that it won't be in the cupboard any more than with the 99p I got for it :rotfl:
Load of washing in, won't be pegging it outside today, but don't know what tomorrow will bring. If all else fails, it can go on the airer in front of the wood stove.
Loads of chilli left for dinner, will serve with jacket potatoes and coleslaw tonight
Will look for surveys and check banks later
Hope everyone is having a good day

Yeah, I've always gone down the voucher route in the past because the thought of getting 4x the value seemed like a no brainer to me but, of late, I'm thinking it's more of a waste to go out to dinner just for the sake of it (and have to pay for drinks on top) and I've used them towards groceries shopping.Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
