When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

            Morning all

Thanks for starting the thread DNMS
No spending planned for today, did a big shop over the weekend and don't need anything
NSD
Other than that:
Load of washing in, will peg it outside when done. It is cold, but looks like being a nice day to get it mostly dry
In the chaos and confusion this got forgotten, so I will put it out first thing in the morning !
Checked banks
A couple of surveys
Sort out airing cupboard and put aired things away
Not done this either
I have 3 ebay sales to post - a bit slow at the moment though! Done
Restock my sales unit, bring unsold stuff back and put it away (:( don't enjoy that bit!) Done, I didn't have to bring a great deal back.. I have unloaded the car as OH wants it for golf tomorrow and I don't suppose a carload of my scruffy boxes of [STRIKE]old tat[/STRIKE] antiques and vintage items would look that good at the golf club :rotfl::rotfl:Still got to actually put it away though!
Go to surgery to pick up prescription Done, also took some forms that needed returning, which means they are no longer cluttering up the book case :T
Minimal cooking - I baked treats yesterday and made pesto to go with pasta for dinner
OH avoided the pesto by having leftovers from yesterday :rotfl:
Start off some sprouting seeds now I have found the book to remind me how to do it
Not yet
Some cleaning and tidying - as always, there is plenty to choose from, but I am thinking of the main bathroom, lower set of stairs and the kitchen windowsill
Bath and basin done, and that is about it
Dog walk later OH and little GD did this today
It was my birthday today, and not much got done because DD and little GD came over with a cake that they had made and a hilarious card drawn by little GD
It shows the house, the dog, the flowers and the Christmas tree in the front garden, a butterfy .... and a cat flap, which we used to have (though at the back of the house) for our previous two little dogs, but current little dog too dense / timid to use it, and then DS's huge dog tried to get through it and broke it, so OH took it out and repaired the door. Fancy her remembering that :rotfl:Anyway, too much cake eaten AND I had a glass of wine, but I really think I should give up this birthday business now! :rotfl:
Hope everyone has a good day

            Morning everyone
Apart from very sore stomach muscles and throat still, I feel back to normal. Had a good night's sleep last night aswell so feel refreshed. Took it easy yesterday but did update my spends book ready for November.just need to do my final balance on groceries.
A quick meeting today but not till later.
Woke up to a cold and frosty morning but blue skies are out so hopefully get some washing out in a bit.
Did the cat cleaning first thing.
DD ran a few errands for me yesterday which helped me a lot.
Banking all checked and everything all up to date.
Need to do RM survey in a minute.
Plenty of food in so planning a NSD
Packed another Christmas gift bag last night. Mix up with wrapping 2 presents for DD when one was for sis in law and can't find where I have stored sis in law final bit for gift bag. Don't want to be pulling suitcases out, hurting my stomach more,,I just know one present in the bag isn't for her. You can tell i was a space cadet last night, just wasn't with it fully but felt useless doing nothing.
Hope u are feeling better FVD I've also done the crisp thing before now......sometimes it just has to be done!

            Morning
Quick post from me before springing into action for the day
have just seen I've dropped a stitch on my lovely socks  must rectify that today!
Madam back at school and am pleased to say I actually did all the things I needed to yesterday :money: (so no ironing of clothes this morning
)

that's enough! Have a great day guys

            Morning folks
Thank you to everyone who has liked/followed my new Crochet facebook page. I really appreciate it. FatVonD - good idea about the yarn companies... we have a large local fabric/yarn/hobby chain in the north west that I could perhaps tap up for some publicity.

Not so busy day for me today, half term!
- Shopping for the bits I forgot yesterday (lost my list!
 )
- Finish home made Halloween decorations
- Carve pumpkin (2 for £1 at Mr M's!)
- Enchiladas for tea with left over chicken from dinner yesterday
- Quick wash & dry on the line

- Declutter book case and pack another box
That will do today. Got DH upstairs off work with a tummy bug too - lovely!
Happy Monday everyone!0 -
            Morning everyone,
Hope you've all had a good weekend.
Unlikely to be a NSD day for me today as we're going away for a few days this week and I need to get a few bits and bobs in from town.
I'm trying to create an autumn/winter/spring capsule wardrobe with a maximum of 40 pieces. In my wasteful and materialistic pre-DFW days I bought so many unsuitable items of clothing on a whim. But nothing had any value or longevity. Most I've sold on now or taken to the charity shop. I'm trying to put together a wardrobe using the pieces I have. And keeping it very simple. So anything that doesn't fit or doesn't get worn will be given away or sold on eBay to go towards CC payments.
Beautiful day here but quite cold.
Today I have/will:
*[STRIKE]check accounts[/STRIKE] done
*[STRIKE]make sure holiday folder is up to date[/STRIKE] done
*[STRIKE]meals from stores - breakfast healthy smoothie, lunch TBC, dinner defrosting some prawns and will have with curry and rice[/STRIKE] done
*[STRIKE]list items on eBay - lots to list[/STRIKE] phew! Listed 22 items
*[STRIKE]free hot drink in town[/STRIKE] done
*[STRIKE]two loads of washing[/STRIKE] done
*[STRIKE]sort linen basket - could use getting rid of an old and pretty worn duvet cover - might put in the garage to use as car protection after muddy walks etc. (any other ideas, anyone?)[/STRIKE] done
*use gym pass
[STRIKE]*saved £10 a month on sim card - I have a PAYG sim but the prices have dropped considerably in the last month or so so this is saving me £120 a year :j[/STRIKE] done
*work, work, work!
Have a good day, everyone,

Today I will:
- Check bank accounts - Done
- Check Ebay sales - Done
- List on FB selling page

And after that bombshell, here's today's list of small things:
*Overnight laundry on cheap tariff. Pegged out to air, now drying on heated airer.
*Made bread.
*Leftover fish pie tonight. I like this 'Cook once, eat twice' approach.
*Sorted out the presents we bought yesterday & updated list.
*Updated budgets thoroughly. Mr f bought much needed new DMs yesterday. Used CC for vouchers. Have now paid across the money from our Clothes Piggy so all straight.
*Did a couple of surveys & a prize draw.
*Checked online banking for transfer of funds. No sign of it yet.
*Cut the first of our homegrown cabbage.
*Using poached cinnamon pears from freezer for desserts this week.
*Ran a pile of stuff through Ziffit & boxed up £15.80's worth. Better than a poke in the eye, I suppose.
*Completed cash budget in readiness for our holiday.
Now this bit's NOT so money saving but could have been worse. Car went in for a service today. We pay into one of these service plans each month. Mr f had just got to work in the courtesy car when he had a call to say there wasn't enough money currently in our plan account to cover the service. We were really annoyed as we were upfront about our annual mileage when we bought the car & couldn't understand why we were sold that level of plan if the monthly charge (which is pretty low) is insufficient to cover necessary services. So we had to pay for this service ourselves. I was not a happy bunny, but when mr f went to collect the car & pay up, the bill was £139 & I have £170 in the Car Piggy, so it could have been worse. Will pay that straight off the CC.
Intend to sit on my bum tonight & read a pile of gifted magazines. Busy day planned tomorrow.

I feel for you. We have the MOT and service tomorrow. There's £430 in the car kitty. I hope this will cover it, but the car is old and in heavy use so I don't know how much work might need doing. OH is always reluctant to take the car to a garage. His opinion is that it should go once a year and all niggles and issues are to be saved up for then... well we already know we need a new wing mirror!LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310
