Asda discount credit card

in Credit cards
Just to get it off my chest, I have a perfect credit rating, was moving from the Coop and had an Asda card. Decided to use this card as a main credit card, tried to uplift the credit limit from (only)£300 and was refused..... presumably 'creation' who administer the card do not want people who pay the balance monthly. Of course they refused to tell me why. The point is that I was so piously(!) upset that I have stopped using Asda altogether. Not much use paying the balance off monthly as MSE suggest then!!Still, quite happy spending at Lidl and Tesco thanks very much, using another card :j

What makes you think you have a perfect credit rating?
And I don't see the point in boycotting Asda as it's Creation that provide it.0 -
Good for you, i like it when people stick by their principles.
Try not to be too offended though, some customers are more costly than others. I mean ask yourself honestly, would you want you as customer?0 -
Well if it's principles then OP will also be boycotting Argos and Currys as Creation provide finance for them also0

....so you're just speculating that it's because you pay in full?gongoozler wrote: »presumably 'creation' who administer the card do not want people who pay the balance monthly. Of course they refused to tell me why.
Most credit card providers review limits based on account conduct over a period of not less than six months (as well as risk scoring based on data from the rating agencies, plus internal data, plus other factors such as affordability, etc) so there are any number of reasons why they'd have refused an increase.0 -
Principles dont have to be pragmatic. I now boycott all burger kings because my local franchised one has had a broken milkshake machine since it opened 10+ years ago.
Ok i lose out on bacon double cheeseburgers at huge personal cost but its the principle!! Head office shouldve done more to ensure franchises have working equipment.
Incidentally i dont seek out boycotting other companie sthat might use the same machinery/equipment/supplier.
Selective principles!!0 -

used to convey that what is asserted is very likely though not known for certain.
Seems to suggest theres some speculation involved, yes.0 -
Not sure why the hair-splitting, but my point remains that OP believes it's very likely (to use your helpful definition) that a limit increase was declined because of full balance payments, but I can't see any evidence supporting this viewpoint, or OP's later assertion that it's "Not much use paying the balance off monthly as MSE suggest then"....Seems to suggest theres some speculation involved, yes.0 -
£300 is a very low credit limit for a standard card - many have £500 as a minimum. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

You may have been declined for numerous reasons.
You don't say how many other cards you have, income, debt to credit ratio, credit history, length of cards held.
There's lots of reasons and to take a computerised result personally is your choice but it's nothing personal, just a business decision and process.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards.
