Savings accounts accepting DD's

I've been back in my mother's PO account again and another two DDs have been cancelled. I phoned up both the PO and Co-op about this before when two other DDs were cancelled and neither of them could explain what had happened. Does anyone have any experience of this happening and have you had a straight answer from either the bank or the PO. Her everyday rewards depend on these going through.
Thanks for the help.Did you really mean to put loose?
Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place0 -

Yep, the first payments were due out 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th May and I set it to monthly rather than one off. I've got some others set up to replace the cancelled ones so will be keeping a close eye. As I say, I set mine up similarly and they have worked fine. The PO has said that they can't cancel the DDs only myself or the bank can and I am sure I definitely didn't.0 -

They certainly can be cancelled by them. My wife missed out on a £5 TSB reward one month and on investigation it turned out that the DD for this on one of her PO a/cs had been cancelled for no known reason.
In trying to correct this they managed to cancel the DDs on ALL her PO a/cs (they were still showing as active in her PO a/cs but had been cancelled with the respective banks!!!).
Best advice is not to seek their help but just set the DDs up again yourself. Make the dates early in the month and monitor that they are working and still active. If need be then you still have time to set up a new mandate to draw payment before the end of the month.0 -
I had 6x PO accounts and 2x Santander esaver accounts with 3x DD each as my backup plan but it seems that Santander have removed all DD from the esaver accounts now which is a bit of an issue0

I have two Santander e-Savers and note the they have pulled DD's to them on 8th and 16th May!0 -
I hadn't used them for a while so maybe they were removed automatically. I can schedule the pull on the Santander website but the DD is no longer showing on the Halifax/BoS account.
Time to send in the forms again (although too late for this month now).0 -

Website says "Deposits can be made at any time via standing order, one-off payments or online transfers."
Apparently there's an unwritten limit of 3 direct debits per account. I know this because at the start of the Tesco debacle I tried to load the two Santander accounts with additional direct debit mandates, only to have the paper applications returned by Santander along with a letter stating that only three dd's were allowed per account.
My sister did the same as me, but her request were totally ignored by Santander. They didn't even write to advise her that they were refusing to add them for her.
The accounts that I have may be slightly older than the one/s you have and so it may be that you can't have direct debits set up on them any longer.
The terms and conditions for Santander accounts are hard to locate and I think they adjust them to suit themselves.0 -

Only way to setup the DDs is by sending them a paper form by post?0 -
Yes, thats how I did it. There is no online option.0
