Why don't you all complain to the ASA?
Ceebee:
I followed the link - the small print on the left says about getting a 15.9% platinum card. Nowhere in the application process (i went through all pages (entering dummy info) until the final confirmation page where it said "submit" - I didn't submit) did it say what you were or were not applying for. EXCEPT the terms and conditions links at the bottom of each page in which it says nothing about "cashback" so I find this odd that you are supposed to be applying for a cashback card and the terms say nothing about cashback.
Martin,
I think you have been duped aswell, but I still ask why all of you have not complained to the ASA?0 -
I think complaining to the ASA will only help if there isd misleading information within an advert. The ASA does not regulate non-Advertisement information published by companies on their own web-site.
See http://www.asa.org.uk/asa/about/Guided%20Tours/New%20Media for details, specifically,
Claims companies make on their own websites, for example, do not fall within the scope of the Code
I hope this helps,

Quite right.
I think a better place to go is Trading Standards or Financial Services Authority.0 -
I can read the complaints above. I have to say I tend to ignore what managers and customers service operatives know as they tend to be the last in the loop and often get the wrong end of the stick. This is what i am going to do - i'm going to ask (next week now due to bank holiday) someone from Citibank to come on here and explain themselves!Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

I tried the link today and it does not take me to any page. It draws a blank page. Anyone have the same experience? The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket. :rolleyes:0

I just got my citicard - i applied on the 1% deal too. The documentation did not have any info on the cashback, so I called to confirm and they todl me it was a cashabck card. I suppose I'll find out on my first statement.0

I don't recall exactly - maybe 3 - 4 weeks ago. I just called them again, to double check and now it appears it is _not_ a cashback card. I have a feeling that the first time around I was sent to a call centre somewhere and spoke to someone clueless.
Anyhow the card is now cancelled and chopped up in a nice pile.0 -
Actually this is the second time CitiBank have messed me around. Sorry, but two strikes and you're out - not dealing with them again.0

Check this out - I applied for a Cashback Platiunum card on the Moneysupermarket website a couple of months back. I told my brother about the excellent deal and he did the same 2 weeks later. Guess what - he got a cashback card and I didnt!!
I called them up and had a moan ... after 3 of 4 calls they said it wasn't possible to put the cashback on my card unless I had proof that I applied for a cashback card. The deal isnt on Moneysuperket now so I have no proof - I'm off elsewhere and I envy my brother for getting the cashback card!!If you found my comment helpful, please click the 'Thanks' button below :T0
