With friends like that you don't need enemies...0

I won a riverboat trip for ten people, and took nine friends. We had lunch out at the destination, then got back on the boat for the return trip. I was a bit miffed that no one suggested paying for my lunch, but then got over it by reminding myself we're all pensioners on a budget and wouldn't have taken the boat trip if I hadn't won it, and I'd enjoyed the day out in their company. In this case, the poster wouldn't have had the TV if they hadn't entered the competition, but now has an asset worth something for their time and trouble so if the friend wants it, they (the friend) should gratefully accept the special price offered or pay full retail price elsewhere. If they don't want to buy it, the poster should sell it guilt-free.0

I would be too, that is a bit off.0 -
Firstly, well done for winning the prize, which you failed to tell us what it is.That doesn't matter, what's important is you should stick with your initial thought and sell it.Shop around and see what the item is selling for and decide on a price. Then you go to your "friend"and offer them first refusal at that price,if they don't want it then you sell it,job done.0

Well, for a start I think your so called friends are cheeky saying you should give it to them for free!
Suggest: I'f they want it £50 cheap for TV. If not do:
Raffle at work for your favourite charity.
Give it to your charity so they can raise money themselves.
No problema !!0 -
Why should your friends profit by your good fortune?
Either sell the TV or donate it to a charity that will take it without all the health and safety fuss, but let your friends know what you're going to do with it beforehand. It just might bring them into the real world.:mad:0 -
If this is really a friend, I would hope that he/she was saying it jokingly, not really expecting you to give it to him/her, or as they say, just trying it on. My reply would be, if he/she were a really close friend, who actually needed it, that I would let him/her have it for half the retail value0

If I won a tv I would ask family first if they needed a new tv.
If not I would try and sell it(after all we all need extra cash)
If you have a true friend and they would like it,offer it at half price.
I would not just give it away to anyone out of the family.
Or try and sell it for best offers.
I have recently won a gift card for £100 and have spent it on xmas presents for my granchild.
In effect gave the money away(but it saved me £100 on toys.0
