flickering will almost certainly be caused by windows update and installing intel graphics and any nvidia updates. intel hd graphics built into cpus updating can cause screen to flicker even if your not actually using intel display.
Green dots tend to be dead pixels or slight sticking of the led screen usually wiping over with a microfibre cloth will resolve that. however if in doubt exchange it0 -
I’ve already tried updating both drivers but that never fixed it, it still flickers once every 30 mins.0

just an update, going to take my laptop back to curry's later on today with the original box and proof of purchase. going to show them the video of the fault with my laptop, the fault is only intermittent but the screen still should not be flickering and there shouldn't be green dots on the screen which im guessing are dead pixels0

just another update, I took my old laptop into currys pc world they saw it doing the flickering on the screen and replaced it with a new one no questions asked.0

Thanks for the update OP. Glad you got a satisfactory outcome without the hassle! You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

You dont have a choice.
The retaier has the choice to repair, refund or relace.
It is up to them to choose which is most cost effective.
Edit...
Ive just seen your update above. Well done but the above is still consumer law for future referencemake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

The retailer doesn't get to choose in the first 30 days of ownership.0 -

Oh look, they did swap it without insisting on a repair, who would have guessed.
Thanks for the update on this, it’s always good when someone comes back to show how an issue gets resolved. Hopefully the new one will work well for you. Did you opt for a like for like replacement or choose something else instead?0 -
they just replaced it without any questioning of sending it off for repair, ive also brought a cooling pad which should help keep it cool while gaming.0
