Faulty laptop?

I recently purchased a gaming laptop from currys pc world on the 1st October 2017 for £800, and it has now developed 2 faults. One being the screen will keep on flickering once every 20 minutes, and there is flashing green dots all over the screen, only noticeable on a black screen. Does anyone know if I will be able to take it back to my nearest store and get a replacement laptop? I have full proof of purchase and the box it came in.

Yes take it back turn it on and make sure you can replicate the fault for them to see. As long as it's not software related you won't have a problem.
  • ive not had the flickering screen problem for a while now, but I can still see the small flicking green dots. on my proof of purchase it says my last day for refund is 22nd October, iim hopping to get replacement.

That would be a return for a change of mind under their returns policy (which is 21 days) and only applies to unopened goods.

Your legal rights under the Consumer rights act allow you to return faulty goods up to 30 days from the date of purchase.
  • oh right I understand now, so they should just give me a new laptop? I read on some other sites that they will make you send it off for repair? im not sure if this is true tho.

Currys will either repair it in store or send it away.

It’s less than 30 days so as long as they can confirm the fault they will exchange or refund in store although they will likely want a full rest done to rule out software.

They'll still insist in a repair.

No they won’t, some stores may try it on but most of them don’t and legally OP is entitled to a refund or exchange and does not have to accept a repair. If they try to insist, take the laptop home and immediatly contact customer services and send a letter before action.

    From experience they will.
  • just a update on my laptop, the green dots seem to have disappeared now they still show up on the dell start up screen then disappear when it loads to my desktop. the screen flicking hasn't happened for quite some times but im still going keep an eye on it. im not sure what could of caused it in the first place. it normally would flicker while playing high graphical games, but I know this computer can handle most games.
