  • Tesco wrote to customers last October (and have had the same info on their website since) saying...I think it's a legacy feature of their eSaver, and no longer available to new customers/accounts.

    Cheers
Over £2K made from bank switches and P2P incentives since 2016

...2 Did I understand correctly there is a Santander saver account that you can set up DD's to ??

    Santander's current T&Cs still say:

We offer inbound Direct Debits on some savings accounts (that is the Direct Debit is set up on another account and the paymentis received into your savings account).

    So keep hunting :)

Can't check at present, but I think that the facility might be there on the 123 bank account - albeit you have to call them to set it up?

Don't know - but I wasn't making that point or suggestion. After all, a 2% easy access account would reduce the BoS value per DD mandate to zero!

If you reverse-engineer my post you see that I'm suggesting that your £8, i.e. £4 per DD mandate monthly return, should be thought of as actually worth about £1 per DD mandate - i.e. only one quarter of the BoS rate when compared to other easy-access products.

For me, the reference account that is paying about one quarter less interest than the BoS Classic Vantage is the December 17 BM Savings 1.45% account. No strings, also monthly interest - PLUS a free monthly-collect DD mandate.

Try investing. You'll benefit in the long run.

You could do regular investments by DD into:
    • Stocks & Shares ISAs
    • SIPPs
    • Investment Trust Shares Plans
    • General Investment Accounts

You'll need to commit to investing more than £1/month. £25 to £100 per month would be typical minimum subscriptions.
Related to this some pension companies allow you to pay by DD. I have set this up for mine. I pay part directly from my wages (It's taken after tax and then tax claimed back). An additional £10 is paid by DD. This was in part set up to replace the Tesco DD.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

    Savings account changes

On 22 April 2018 we're making some changes to how you move money in and out of your savings account.
    Moving money into your account
You'll no longer be able to make regular or one-off Direct Debit payments into your account. Any existing Direct Debits set up on your account will be cancelled. If you've not already cancelled your Direct Debits on 22 April 2018 they will cancel automatically and you won't be able to set up any new ones.

This is a bit of a nuisance as I`ll need to find another DD source.
There used to be a list on here somewhere.
Can anyone help with it please?
