Is it me or the paint?

Options
Finally got rid of my fuschia bedrooms walls 🤗. The 2.5ltr tin of dulux trade undercoat said it should cover up to 17sqm per litre. I only painted three walls of a 12sqm room and I've used nearly all the paint. The other wall holds the fitted wardrobes.

Is the info on the paint tin to be taken with a kilo of salt? I definitely stirred the paint before using it. First time I've ever painted anything! 😁

Take it your actual room measures 12 sqm - the coverage is for 17 sqm of wall not floor !!!

BOBS is right - you need to measure the 4 x walls (minus the window and doors) - not the floor!

Should have known it was me and not the paint :rotfl:

Ok so I measured the walls and I've still only got around 26sqm painted out of a potential 42sqm. Still seems a bit short.

It's all about how thick you put the paint on. They are very clever when they say UP TO.

I see. I guess I painted it a bit thick to get rid of all that pink. Back to B&Q for some more paint then!

Btw, what's the best way to get paint off your hands? I've been rubbing away with vegetable oil, but no joy. Cheers.

Are you using undercoat on the walls? Paint coverage depends how much it soaks in, paint a sheet of glass really thin coat and you achieve claimed coverage. Does your car do the mpg manufacturer claims too?

Yes it's the undercoat I'm talking about. Top coat tomorrow.
