    Quick, non gender related post.

Mortgage hasn't cleared today. Hoping it will clear tomorrow. May take a screen grab to prove it's under £20k.

    Quote from December 2007:
Been a bit of a bad lad :naughty:

I've just bought myself a Christmas present... and probably a birthday present... and...:D

Playstation 3 60Gb and two games - PC world, price 349.99

Not only do I use the PS3, the other main culprit is our son, so we're both a bit disappointed today when we find out that issues of the PS3 getting hot could be the Yellow Light Of Death (YLOD) problem.

Managed to track down a very local console repair company and I dropped it off in person earlier today. Hoping to get it back before the bank holiday weekend. Suspect the repair price is going to be somewhere around the £59.99 mark, although I may get a small discount as they won't need to post it back to me - I'll collect in person.

About a third of the price of a new console - cheapest I can find at present is Saunsbury's at £164.99:
    http://www.sainsburysentertainment.co.uk/en/Games/PS3/Playstation-3-Slim-Console-160GB/product.html?product=E10365243

so for a person who likes his consoles, it's probably the better option than a completely new one.

Weather - we've potentially got snow tomorrow. even if we don't get snow, it's going to be about 3c at best, ie pretty cold compared to a maximum of about 21c last week.

    Hi FB,

Just popped in to catch up - glad to see you're ok after your fall. All I can do is echo what Tilly said - take it slowly! Better safe than sorry.

Probably a bit late to tell you this now, but with a bit of help from YouTube, fixing the YLOD isn't too complicated - OH has just had to do this to his. We were really sceptical about it working, but were extremely impressed when it came back to life. Touch wood it's still ok, but we do now have a back-up (not MSE, but better than wasting all the games and blu-rays, and it's our version of Sky+ too) Life expectancy for repaired ones isn't great, I don't believe - just to warn you. Sorry for the doom and gloom!

Hi Vicky - thanks for posting. Fortunately / unfortunately depending on which camp you're sitting in, I received a call from the console repair company that my PS3 was exhibiting YLOD like symptoms, but it had multiple faults. They could fix one, but did not have a great hope for fixing the other, therefore gave the reply that they could not fix it.

Very pleased with their honesty - guess they could have taken my money and ran, but I suspect they were thinking of their reputation. On the life expectancy of the YLOD fixes, after I popped the console in I did some research and read up that it was from a matter of weeks, to months, but perhaps even years.

So, a few quick telephone calls later and I managed to find a local Sainsbury's that had one in stock and picked one up there and then!

Got the old one back - still running, but the fan is whirring like a jumbo jet

Once I pull all the data off and I'm sure I don't need it any more, I may consider offering it up as spares on Ebay. Apparently even broken ones are worth £40+ due to the blu-ray drive. Better in my pocket...

Got the user / save data off and I'm just waiting for a 1.2Gb game patch for the new PS3 to be downloaded before I turn in.

Now the good news. The mortgage payment cleared today, which means we're sub-£20k. Got a screen grab to prove it too:

    Mortgage_2012_04_03.jpg

Have also got £6,700.00 of ring fenced mortgage savings, so I make that:

    19,708.73 - 6,700.00 = 13,008.73

Not too bad, although the credit card debt (at 0%) is mounting. Graphs and signature probably updated tomorrow now.

Oooh that's great news about the mortgage - I can't imagine what that must feel like (it's far too far away for me!).:j

Sad about the PS3, but as you say, great that they didn't try to rip you off in any way. Good thinking about putting it on Ebay afterwards. Once our old one dies we might do the same. Thanks for that.

Hhhhmm. I don't think I like this new cycling regime of yours FB. There is indeed a disturbing reduction in the incidences of late night posting from you, compared to two months ago. If I was on my PC rather than my phone, I would plot this worrying trend and illustrate the correlation between the increased mileage and reduced late night posts in a smart graph a la FB stylie. This whole Fitness/body recovery thing you've got going on, quite frankly just smacks of selfishness and I feel you should really think a bit more about the insominiacs amongst your customer base.

Curylgirl, that has just got to win the post of the year award, FANTASTIC :rotfl:
I’m delighted to be able to post this. I know how I don’t want to pay off my mortgage.

A payout on my life insurance…:eek::eek:

I came off my bike this evening on the commute home. Now that I’ve had the chance to reflect on this, I can put some of the blame on myself, but I think the greater part of the blame was on the driver. Bike ok. Rear light popped out of cradle. Handlebars needed to be straightened. I thought I was ok, but my right knee is in pain just now. Shoulder hurt at the time - think I landed on it, but it all happened so quickly. Financial Bliss.
Goodness FB, Mrs Bliss must be worried now. I know we were discussing protective stuff a few weeks ago now. Do you have elbow protection etc like the skate boarders use?

No more wanting to speed along Mr Bliss, take it easy and listen to Mr Tilly - better a journey taking 10 mins extra than a trip to A&E dept.

I must be sounding like Mrs Bliss now but that could have been so much worse. Take care and hope the knee is less painful today.

:A may be she can be a cycling guardian angel

    Tilly

I was just going to ask the same a Tilly as I remember us discussing body amour and me telling you about the amazing kits my snowboarding friends wear. I'm glad you're ok FB tho a tad dissapointed that you have not given us a SMIDDY (have I remembered right) equivalent of this event ;)

Ps, talking of saving fuel and taking a bit longer to get there safely, did you see the newpaper article this week of the family who are now taking their children to school and doing their local messages on a horse drawn cart?

Ah don't worry about it, FB doesn't get his (pink frilly) knickers in a twist over things.

hehehe FB, I did see the post referring to you as 'her', all I can say is that they can't be true followers of the FB way or they would know you are a definate Mr FB. I've just remembered a post from a couple of years ago when someone thought FB stood for fat ba*****, what a choice a, pink frilly knickers or a chubster :rotfl:

Wow, that's fantastic, you are doing so well :j

BTW, really sorry to hear about your PS3 but good that you've got another. After years of gaming addiction and arduous rehab I think I've had a relapse brought on by my 4 year old nephew (with his WII and DS) who now thinks I'm just the coolest girl he knows because of my gaming skills. I've caught myself twice this week playing crash bandicoot without him here :o:o:o Gawd knows what's going to happen when he sees my 'gaming cupboard'

Just checking out the free WiFi.

I'm in a Travelodge bar-cafe "down south" checking our their free WiFi on the laptop. Why?

Well I'm away for 5 days and this coming Thursday there is a £12 Travelodge sale. Contemplating getting up early to see if I can nab some £12 (or at least cheaper) rooms, but thought I'd check out the WiFi first, just to make sure.

As you can probably see, it works fine.
