That's more like it FB :D Don't care what you post about as long as it contains at least one geeky stat.

Well, I've just checked and via the sat-nav, it thinks that from home to work is 7.1 miles, so make that 14.2 for a round trip.

Having just bought some diesel, I can't actually remember what the price was (not very MSE), so I put 1.43 per litre into the sat nav and it calculated the round trip cost as £2.20

Three cheers for social networking. Mrs Bliss was on Facebook earlier and a friend reported that all of the local garages have sold out

    Nice article from BBC:

Don't panic buy - we're good for 14 days, plus any call for a strike will be at least 7 days away.

  • I’m delighted to be able to post this. I know how I don’t want to pay off my mortgage.

A payout on my life insurance…:eek::eek:

I came off my bike this evening on the commute home. Now that I’ve had the chance to reflect on this, I can put some of the blame on myself, but I think the greater part of the blame was on the driver. Bike ok. Rear light popped out of cradle. Handlebars needed to be straightened. I thought I was ok, but my right knee is in pain just now. Shoulder hurt at the time - think I landed on it, but it all happened so quickly.

Coming down a hill with a right turn at the bottom. I’m following a car doing somewhere between 25 and 30mph. Bike computer shows a maximum of 30.1, so certainly no more than that. As the hill flattens out, it curves right 90 degrees. After the curve is a left junction. Driver pretty much does an emergency stop and decides to turn left. I immediately apply the brakes and I suspect I drop from about 25mph to 15mph while also swerving, but manage to clip his rear bumper and end up coming off.

Was more shook up than anything else. Driver immediately pulled over, apologised (I also apologised) and asked if I was ok. After also checking the car, which didn’t appear to suffer any damage, he drove off.

What would I do different? Hold back a little more (would have been fine if he was carrying straight on) and I’ll be extra cautious on that section in future. I now know I can’t stop quicker than a car!

Told Mrs Bliss. She wasn’t at all happy. Don’t want to be posting any more “off” stories any time soon.

Oh my goodness FB; I'm glad you are (relatively) OK. You might feel the fall tomorrow.

    Was the road 30 mph?

    Keep safe.

  • Goodness FB, Mrs Bliss must be worried now. I know we were discussing protective stuff a few weeks ago now. Do you have elbow protection etc like the skate boarders use?

No more wanting to speed along Mr Bliss, take it easy and listen to Mr Tilly - better a journey taking 10 mins extra than a trip to A&E dept.

I must be sounding like Mrs Bliss now but that could have been so much worse. Take care and hope the knee is less painful today.

@Tilly - had meant to look into that, but have not done so yet. Had longs on plus long sleeved top, no damage to either and no road rash :D

Feel better today - knee is a little sore still, but no worse that last night. Nothing visible there, ie no red marks or bruising!

@Peonie, yes the road is 30mph. I was free wheeling, slowing as I got to the curve. Once you get around the 90 degree curve, the road flattens off for a short while, then starts inclining again, so in theory if you can maintain a steady speed, you don't feel the pain of the incline.

Had left pretty late last night - was about 6.45pm, and I just wanted to get home. Glad that I can notch the event up as one I can learn from and walked away relatively safe.

Change of subject shortly - next post month end interest once I pull the stats together.

Mortgage interest stats March with it being the 31st March today:

    Opening Balance: 23,172.41

    Overpayments in Blue.
    Interest in Red.
    Balance in Green.

Month: Payment (Std / OP) / Interest (day) / Net reduction / Balance

    January: 900.00 (887.41 / 12.59) / 47.36. (1.53) / 852.64 / 22,319.77
    February: 900.00 (887.41 / 12.59) / 41.14. (1.47) / 858.86 / 21,460.91
    March: 900.00 (887.41 / 12.59) / 43.71. (1.41) / 856.29 / 20,604.62

Totals: Payment / Interest / Net reduction.

    Minimum: 900.00 / 41.14 / 852.64
    Maximum: 900.00 / 47.36 / 858.86
    Average: 900.00 / 44.07 / 855.93
    Grand Total: 2,700.00 / 88.50 / 2,567.79

    Balance outstanding: 20,604.62

    Ring-fenced mortgage savings: 5,600.00

    Net mortgage: £15,004.62

April is interesting (sorry) in that the actual mortgage will drop under £20,000 ie the balance I can view from within the Nationwide internet banking. Have put funds aside to pay £2,000 off the mortgage in April - £900 directly to the mortgage and £1,100 to savings, thus the mortgage will end up being somewhere near £13,060 at the end of April.

Ah don't worry about it, FB doesn't get his (pink frilly) knickers in a twist over things.

Now wouldn't it be hillllllarious if indeed FB was a lady and there were two Mrs in the partnership. (just for the record, I don't find the concept of civil partnerships hilarious - just my propensity to put my foot in it)

So tell us FB, do you ride side-saddle or not?

(I really do need to get a life)
