Very quick post to round off the week.
Cycling (favourite topic at present).
Could not help but notice we have done a mere 25 miles in the car this week, but I’ve cycled over twice that at 65 miles. Four days of commuting took it’s toll on me – turned in most nights around 10.30 or so – early for me. Finding I’m much more tired.
Went for a short ride with the two kids yesterday – daughter on my bike – child seat. Have attempted to push daughter to remove stabilisers countless times in the past, but had gave up and decided to let her try when she was ready. Well yesterday she asked if we could remove her stabilisers today. Within about 10 minutes, she had it licked on her smaller bike. She also has another bike, but this is a little bigger and heavier. After a bit of coaxing, she was away on that one too. Couple of mishaps and twisty faces, but a really great day. Has asked can she practice on her bigger bike so she can go to school on it! Success I think.
Have just spend a few minutes adding in extra rows for the commute this coming week, which will be my first ever five day commute. Have also noticed that I’ve commuted twelve times by bike – one of the 2012 objectives, so that can be crossed off.
Nationwide credit card.
Got the pins earlier this week (can’t remember if I mentioned), so we’re up and running with this card. The Tesco card has around £800 of credit left, which we will probably use up over the coming month.
Mortgage.
I keep snapshots of various account balances each Sunday and from this I can produce graphs such as the mortgage balance summary. I’ve got some ring fenced savings, which I’m using to mark down the mortgage. But if I take every last penny into account, for the fist time ever, our savings and current account balances take the mortgage under £10,000. Nice feeling to have.
And that’s me turning in…

Hhhhmm. I don't think I like this new cycling regime of yours FB. There is indeed a disturbing reduction in the incidences of late night posting from you, compared to two months ago. If I was on my PC rather than my phone, I would plot this worrying trend and illustrate the correlation between the increased mileage and reduced late night posts in a smart graph a la FB stylie. This whole Fitness/body recovery thing you've got going on, quite frankly just smacks of selfishness and I feel you should really think a bit more about the insominiacs amongst your customer base.0

Absolute classic post. Love it.
Probably true tooFirst brush with MSE this evening and it's gone 10.20pm. Got in, had tea (salad), bathed kids, cleaned bike over and then went out for a little ride. Lovely warm evening.
Managed a sub-one hour total commute with a blisteringly fast 23m 41s return leg which compares to an average 28m or so on the return journey.
Popped out to get some petrol (diesel actually) - we were low, honest and could not believe the queues. Anyone else having issues with the current non-strike?
Aiming to put some time aside to MSE tomorrow evening, as I've just noticed I've not updated my signature for the March payments, nor the March graphs. Again, probably due to the cycling. Still saving on the fuel / travel costs...

Yes. I had to get out of my PJ's and go and get some as Mr GG nagged me :rotfl:financialbliss wrote: »Still saving on the fuel / travel costs...

That's more like it FB
Don't care what you post about as long as it contains at least one geeky stat.
Yep, queues all round here in south Manchester. At 4pm heard that various stations were already out of certain fuels. And every one I passed at 7.30ish was backed up. My BF tells me his town is just the same. Panic all over the place.
I only have a 40 litre tank (currently costs £50+ to fill) and my return journey to work gobbles around £4.50. I happened to fill up last night so should be okay - and my employer would be fine if I had to work from home in any case.
A bike is not an Option for me. My journey into work is 18 miles one way and I've only been on a bike once since I left the age of 13 behind me in 1984. That one occasion, about 10 kilometres outside of Amsterdam 7 years ago, provided a study group (albeit made up of a group of friends and new acquaintances) with Imperical evidence that it is indeed possible to forget how to ride a bike. Some of them clearly didnt believe their eyes - as me and the bike lay completely flat on our sides though bizarrely still in the riding position - and asked me to repeat the experiment. I obliged as i didnt quite believe it myself but sadly the results were conclusive. And just to be clear the parameters for the test were complete sobriety and clear and flat Tarmac. So, every now and again some clever lycra clad sod with calves of kryptonite, wide grin impaired by chin-strap, likes to pop up on Facebook and remind me of it. I'll weather the fuel shortage thankee!0 -

Around £20 for me and suspect it's a bit more but not brave enough to work it out _pale_. Thank goodness I'm normally in only 2 days.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

You either go to work in a Lear Jet or work about 75 miles away?
I have a lovely spreadsheet that works it all out for me - trouble is it makes me into a hermit because when I see the cost of fuel to drive to meet friends....it puts me offwhich isn't good!
