To add to my earlier post, I've just found (the wonders of an indexed bullet journal) the questions I asked the hr man after I got my job. They may or may not be useful or may spark some ideas:

    What is my start date?
What's the holiday entitlement for this year (assuming you get less for this holiday year because you are starting through the year)
Mention any breaks you've already got booked & in your case any weeks where you. An work, but you have to be 'on shore'
Pay, how does it work, what date do you get paid, is it in arrears or advance or a mix of the 2.
Expenses. What's is the expenses/substance policy? What date do you have to claim by?
In your circumstances: is there a minimum length you need left on your passport?
(Cheeky one but... as you need your passport for work, could you expense the renewal fee? - unlikely, but worth asking)

If your week 'on shore' is home office based, do they have a home or lone working policy? What about stationery to do the job?
How often are you expected to visit the office, is the travel for that expense-able? Do they prefer train travel or car travel.

Can't think of anything else, but it might spark some thoughts for you.

    Wish.

    Ok, to do tomorrow:

    - check email addresses of two emails that bounced back today
    - sort online storage because apparently I've run out
    - contact 100 nursing homes and send off business info
    - get car cleaned
    - do the shopping if Mum wants me to
    - update finances
    - work out
    - look over songs for audition next week (I can still go and put my availability as 'from November')
    - make list of upcoming wedding fairs so I can book them in when I have schedule
    - contact local jazz bar for potential gig
    - finish blitzing flat
    - get DBS sorted for new job
    - if I get schedule, rearrange doctor appointment - again!

With your dbs, when the certificate arrives you have 30 days to register for the dbs update service, making your dbs check portable. There will be nothing in the envelope that tells you how to do this, or give any information about it at all. Internet search engines are your friend.

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.
