It must have been a very short test Mr C, you have been away from your keyboard for less than an hour.

IIRC the exam I took was spread over two days.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

The costs are on a per person basis, as i read it. Of course, the parking charges are on top of that but that's a serious amount of inflated charges to get to 5 figures.

Six figures if the press and change.org can be believed, hence my comment about bankruptcy.

NHS nurse ordered to pay £150,000 in fines to private firm for parking at hospital where she works.

This was a sample test on situational judgment, with 25 minutes allowed for completion. You are given 8 different hypothetical situations, and four possible choices for each for how you might react. You have to pick the most and least likely for each of those.

Obviously, there are other abilities tested, such as numerical and verbal reasoning for example, and the full exam could well take a couple of days.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

I can see were there would be a major problem here aside from the trust issuing too many permits for the available parking, a lot of the medical staff when finishing their shift have to do a hand over to the oncoming shift which would mean there may be two cars overlapping at the shift change.

It is a sad position for these staff members but I can see where the Crown court judge is coming from in refusing leave to appeal. Reading the judgement there does not seem to be a great defense to these charges, in law anyway morally yes it is wrong, but that does not win cases.

that there’s some natural justice missing. A pity.

Why would this be contrary to Natural Justice? There was a fair hearing and there was no allegation of bias on behalf of the Judge.

The Supreme Court has decided a case before now on private parking charges. Natural Justice is about the process followed in making a decision rather than whether both parties are satisfied with the outcome (generally 50% aren't!).

Barrister not yet been in touch. Have tried making contact with chap who was organising it. As yet no calls returned.

Appeal was filed pre barrister as no judgement as present to issue for advice.

    A mess for sure
    Question?
Why was a highly technically case being run by people who had absolutely no idea how to do so?
Were the unions approached? The rumor I've heard is that the nursing unions were asked, along with the the Trust's lawyers, and they all advised to settle and considered the claim indefensible.

Desborough Road, Castlefield, Cressex, Micklefield - all areas you wouldn't want to venture into alone at night.

Hughenden Valley, Hazlemere, Loudwater, West Wycombe, Naphill, Tylers Green are the nicer areas.

We have a detached house not that far from the town centre, in a nice close which is surrounded by less desirable roads. Fortunately, the riff-raff tend not to venture up here.

Thank you, you have classified my area as nice!:)

That’s not exactly what I said. You’ve capitalised NJ, mine was deliberately in lower case. You’ve also selectively quoted, so here’s the full paragraph.
Rather sad outcome. I’ve not read the judgments but my gut instinct is that given the controversial nature surrounding this whole issue, that there’s some natural justice missing. A pity.
Natural (or perhaps more so ‘moral’) justice could have been provided by their employer in ensuring this court case did not get to this stage for their staff (who in their Investors in People application they would surely have described as ‘their most important asset’); it could have been provided for by their TU backing them up with real professional legal assistance (even if it was to say ‘don’t bother, pay up); it could have been provided by Carwyn Jones as the Labour Party’s leader and the Principality’s First Minister, by not casting them adrift by his inopportune remarks about an accident being caused by parking at the hospital.

So I’m not really sure what point you are trying to make, or perhaps score?
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

It wasn't highly technical. Why do you think a few bits on paper on a screen, a couple of signs here and there, and bits of paint on the ground is "highly technical".

And as the issue of the value of the ticket, that was settled by the Beavis case a long time go.

There is the issue of why costs were bounced into it, as the underlying cases were for £20 a ticket.
