plus its a shame the staff dont all resign en masse in protest
Probably not the best approach when landed with 5 figure debts. Best they can likely do is call in sick / late when they can't get parked now, or work to rule.
Is there any scope for suing the hospital trusts for the expenses occurred in trying to get to work?0 -
IWhen I worked in Petty France my daily commute to work from Bracknell was as follows ...
Bracknell, home of the chavs, Great Hollands council estate and the highest rate of teenage pregnancies in the UK? That's a bit down market for someone of your exalted wealth and status, surely?
I would have thought places like Binfield, Crowthorne, Warfield or Wokingham would have been more up your street.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -
Hardly downmarket. We lived in Roman Hill in a rather nice 4 bed detached Wates house backing on to Nine Mile Ride. We had a double garage and a bidet in the master en suite. I could cross the road and cycle all the way to Camberley through the woods. We thought we were quite posh, that is until we moved to our present house, (which I built myself), which is far better. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

The Deep, so you do care about lawyers? Thank you for worrying about how I get to work and park
When working in London and living in Surrey and subsequently Northamptonshire: drive to station, pay to park there, train to Waterloo, bus to office.
Now I'm in the sticks: drive to work and park in our unmanned, unregulated private car park which does not require tickets or permits!Although a practising Solicitor, my posts here are NOT legal advice, but are personal opinion based on limited facts provided anonymously by forum users. I accept no liability for the accuracy of any such posts and users are advised that, if they wish to obtain formal legal advice specific to their case, they must seek instruct and pay a solicitor.0 -
LOC, of course I care. If I had not passed the Foreign Office exams it would have been my second choice of career. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

Chav areas (as you say) are all over.
I understand you live in High Wycombe BP, is Desborough still
the same dodgy area and classed on Mums net as a sinkhole0 -

I just found an online practice paper for the Foreign & Commonwealth Office aptitude test, and scored 81%.
So it's not like it's rocket science.

I am not pointing fingers Mt C, merely stating that others also have parking problems,
When I worked in Petty France my daily commute to work from Bracknell was as follows.
Drive three miles to station, park, 15 minutes
Catch Train to Waterloo 50-60 minutes
Catch tube to Charing Cross
Change tube to Broadway.
Were I to drive, parking would probably have cost me £30 a day, and that was 25 years ago.
It is not as though there are too many nurses, they can work virtually anywhere they choose
Hospitals shifts have to be covered on a 24 hour basis though, and public transport does not run 24 hours in the majority of the country.
Cardiff central station is 2.5 miles from the hospital, and staff can be coming off shift at all hours, and there may not be a bus for an hour, and then maybe not a train for another hour.
Public transport is a viable option in most of London due to regular services, but in a lot of the rest of the UK it isn't.
I drive to work ( local hospital) and it takes 45minutes, getting public transport would mean an hour on the bus and the last bus leaves the town center at 8pm (which is about a 20 minute walk from the hospital) - now if I was a nurse treating a patient, who came out of surgery at 7.30, would you expect me to rush the tests and treatment and be out for 7.40 to get a bus, or do what most nurses do some unpaid overtime to ensure the patient is comfortable and settled before leaving regardless of what time my shift ends and then drive home?0 -
So it's not like it's rocket science.
Rocket science is not rocket science either is you know a bit of chemistry and engineering. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Hughenden Valley, Hazlemere, Loudwater, West Wycombe, Naphill, Tylers Green are the nicer areas.
We have a detached house not that far from the town centre, in a nice close which is surrounded by less desirable roads. Fortunately, the riff-raff tend not to venture up here.
