I can't remember anyone saying that banks will leave entirely - in that they'd move all of their staff and shut down the UK entity. People seem to be treating banks not completely leaving as disproving the 'banks leaving' claims. It's (hopefully) indisputable that banks have moved some % of staff to the EU, or expanded their EU presence.
There may be a point that the UK sites become the shells, as inertia moves to the EU, but it's likely that most of the banks will still keep some UK presence and do some trade in the UK. That doesn't mean we won't lose a fortune in tax/economic activity.0 -

What about Morgan Stanley. Do +400 jobs not count?
An international Bank will not leave the U.K. but bankers can leave for the EU and expansion can take place in the EU.
Great Brexit dividends for the EU.

Therefore making it more difficult to obtain is a good thing to do.

Therefore making an opportunity for the UK to move into a new field

If we can get a domestic supply of this element then that’d be fantastic. Relying on imports is always going to be a risk. I didn’t see any timescales on that press release but hopefully they will manage to build the plant and get the supply coming in the next few years so that we don’t have to rely on imports for too long, particularly once we’ve left the EU.0 -

Do we need to leave the EU to take this opportunity? I only skimmed it but it doesn't look like it.
It'd be good if we could develop a non-reactor way to produce the isotopes without a reactor, but this is likely just going to mitigate the difficultly in getting the material once we leave the EU (so I guess the EU provides incentive to address the issue, rather than actually helping).0 -

We obviously don’t need to leave for this to happen but if we can produce our own stuff then that’s got to be a good thing. I dare say that we’d still need to negotiate with the EU on an agreement for buying (and potentially selling) it to them because you don’t want to rely on solely our own supply.0 -

Yes we do, again we had a referendum and the country decided to leave and leave we will..."I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like his passengers."0 -
Good grief, could it finally be time that the penny actually drops for the resident remainers?
Let’s hope so and they can then give up at whatever it is they are trying to win.
I agree with you, ginge.
There's this chap on another forum I frequent who's still banging on about how 9/11 was a U.S. govt conspiracy, the thing that hit the Pentagon was not a plane but a cruise missile, flight 93 was downed by a F-16, etc...etc...
Same on here with the brexit dividend.
We all know it doesn't exist.
Brextremists claim it does. That's fine.
Yawn.
Let's move on.Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -

The referendum was about medical isotopes now?
I was asking if we needed to leave for the opportunity. I understand you feel very strongly that we need to leave because of a 51.9% voting majority, but that's not the question I asked.0
