Brexit, the economy and house prices part 5

Are there any politicians that aren't liars? I always assumed it was a fairly self-selecting job/demographic.
I'd settle for real, tangible punishments for politicians lying, up to and including fines, ejection from parties and jail time. Those that are left will either then have to be honest or really good at lying.
I agree, same for news/media too, anyone that clearly makes things up to service an agenda should be held accountable
Party politics doesn't really work anyway, its out dated and old fashioned, you cant run a country in this way. Politicians put into senior roles rarely have any relevant experience, no wonder things are messy0 -
The political class works for the political class first and foremost. Whether it is Westminster or Brussels, it's just the same.
We are fed political tripe and onions about how voters matter, but in truth we are an inconvenience.
Its all a power trip, all the parties are interested in is beating the others
If we have to keep party politics, a system that has an elected representative from each of the main parties working together would be better than a single party0 -

It would indeed work much better as the result would be total paralysis. This is what we occasionally get from hung parliaments. In the short term hung parliaments are great, as a government which can't do anything can't screw anything up.
However, even a minarchist like me has to admit that it probably wouldn't work well in the long term. Being stuck with 2018's budget and 2018's laws in 2038 or 2058 would have undesirable consequences.
On the subject at hand, while the £20bn to go towards the NHS is a total waste of money (the NHS is designed to exist in a permanent state of crisis, and this will continue until we decide which two of free / universal / high-quality state healthcare we want), it will at least buy us the amusing spectacle of watching Remainers declare that they'd rather people die on hospital trolleys of MRSA than have anything positive happen as a result of Brexit.0 -
However, voter Dave Matthews told us, “It was on the bus and now it’s come true. Checkmate Remainers!
“You all laughed at us believing the bus, but here we are with more than £350 million a week for the NHS, all thanks to the Brexit dividend that we knew was coming.
“I don’t care about where this money is actually coming from because it proves me right and makes me feel better about my decision to vote for Brexit, and strangely makes me feel like the government is suddenly doing a great job negotiating Brexit. Funny that.”

Colour me shocked.
Since the big red bus, remainers have been fuming at the so-called "lies" saying that instead of paying the EU we could put some towards the NHS instead.
Now as we near the day of departure from the corrupt, domineering entity called the EU we are told that there will be a boost for the NHS and guess what? Remainers don't like being proven wrong. Remainers don't like that what they tried so hard to tell us was a lie has in fact been announced, proving the supposed lie false.
Remainers you can wriggle and squirm all you like, you can argue hows and wherefores to your hearts content but at the end of the day the £394 million per week NHS boost is going to happen.
Small wonder remainers are so obviously riled. They have been proven wrong yet again as they were with their other pre-referendum tripe.Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -
TM has confirmed that tax rises will be necessary to pay for the increase in NHS funding (along with the ‘Brexit dividend’). I’m very happy about this because we need to get this service back on its feet.
This additional money isn’t as much as had been called for but it’s more than I’d expected.0 -

It’s coming to something when we’re getting more meaningful insights into what’s happening as part of brexit from satirical news sites than we do from actual politicians or the “mainstream” media...0 -
It really is very simple the money that would have gone to the EU goes to the NHS.
The remainers call the leavers thick!:rotfl:0 -

We stop paying money to the EU that we pay now. THAT is the brexit dividend.
Don't confuse the money we stop handing to the EU, with possible losses in the economy. Losses in the economy can happen for any reason. So can improvements.
Unless we expect the tapxpayer to start throwing cash at individuals who have lost out due to brexit (which is a nonsense), there will be an immediate cash saving to the taxpayer.
The money we stop handing over to the EU on exit = saved money.
It really is as simple as that.
Really, ha ha ha. It is a shame you were not posting just after the referendum or for the following near two years. The number of posts you fellow flat earth society Brexiters mentioned the Brexit dividend as coming from increased trade, magical economic growth and free trade deals with far away places covered page after page.
Now those society members no longer post, up you pop with a completely different message.
No longer is there a Brexit dividend from growth but it is now from not paying into the EU at some time in the future.
False Brexit, false dividend and by the way the earth is round. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
