Brexit, the economy and house prices part 5

Brexit is neither of those 2 positions though I would argue.
We will weather any Brexit storm, just as weathered through the Financial crash.
Equally, Brexit affords new opportunities, but it's silly to think they will come without making compromises. If we want things from India, for example, then they will want things from us.
This is a nuanced position which doesn't sit well with the media circus which surrounded Brexit. We have more media coverage than ever, but it seems to get sliced into ever shorter segments, as though people are unable to manage an attention span more than a few minutes.
My point was more that the Brexit referendum vote is naturally more important IMO than local council elections, since the result of those can be changed after 5 years. The result of the Brexit negotiations is likely to be in operation, perhaps with modifications over time, for considerably longer than that.0 -
Logically then, if the EMA is unable to undertake the work which it is supposed to do because it lacks the expertise, it should engage outside contractors with suitable experience to do the work. The EMA might find a few candidates in the UK prepared to do it in return for a hefty fee.
But it's the EU and they don't really do logic, do they?
Or they could hire more staff in the Eurozone. There might even be some willing to relocate.
But you are right, potentially they could outsource some to the UK team if the price was right.0 -
My fear is that remoaniacs are stoking the fires of extremism in the UK.
When democratic decisions are over turned by unelected elites this is the path to anarchy.0 -

Who was it that was screaming about judges and a lawyer being "enemies of the people"?
Or do you mean remainers will cause leavers to react in the extreme, by petitioning for a Brexit they didn't want but wasn't specified in the ballot?0 -

If remoaniac elites find that they become perceived as 'enemies of people' they only have themselves to blame.
Part of me hopes that the extremist remainers in the Lords up the anti so we can sack them as well.

Almost anyone can be perceived as an enemy of the people by the right wing rags. It's got no basis in reality, except that the consequences such as death threats are very real.
You can't have politicians beholden to the right wing loons that own most of the papers.0 -

You don't think that there are loons on the left too? The Labour party is full of loons who think that anyone who disagrees with them is a Tory or a Blairite even if they are in their own party.0 -

I'm not aware of any left wing loons owning papers and branding people that disagree with their glorious brexit as "enemies of the people".
There are loons on both sides, but it seems that one side is more dangerous than the other, in terms of what they are threatening and their reach (not that there haven't been dangerous leftys, or leftys using violence to achieve their goals, but that's still predominantly a right thing).0 -
