There's a really good post about this and how it's an Irish/EU problem on another thread.

Bu@@er I can't post links so here it is with my thanks to the original contributor.

Basically it is only a problem if people want to make it a problem and it looks like the EU and Ireland are the ones doing that.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/mar/01/irish-warn-may-adopt-customs-union-to-end-brexit-border-impasse No this is the accurate picture. As the person you quote says themselves they are no expert. The UK has chosen to come out of the EU so the choice is a hard border wanted by no-one, accepting a customs union for the whole of the UK or allowing N Ireland special customs union status. A CC charge system is not an option, for starters Sinn Fein would reject it. Cameras would last five seconds before being pulled down! They would be seen as symbols of oppression and targeted. That is why Johnson is regarded as an insensitive idiot for suggesting it.

So a manifesto promises means nothing.

    Pretty much. This isn't news.

    Ok.
According to you then an overwhelming case for a major rethink on our vote to leave?

At the moment the government has been promising all sorts of things, so nobody wants to take a risk. Similar to why some businesses haven't moved their operations from the UK. Until it's clear what brexit is on the table I don't see anything major happening and nobody is going to blink. You can't assume that because they haven't blinked yet that they won't, it's all part of the game.

Neither side is rioting yet, because there is no clear indication whether it's required. At some point this will change.

I don't like him either, but it's a logical fallacy to think that because he was wrong about iraq that he is also wrong about brexit.

Ah but at least he’s started to twig now that the EU would need to reform in order to stir the doubters.

Unfortunately, he hasn’t yet twigged that that EU is an intransigent ideological project that has no intention of any kind of reform.

    Hey ho.

Politicians play games. Business will simply carry on. As it's tomorrow that matters.

The EU is a group of countries democratically working together for their combined good.

Having an ideology isn't a bad thing.

First off it’s a good kicking for all those poor students who thought JC was going to cancel their debt...

Then it’s an impassioned defence of UKIP and their raison d’etre.
    From Wikipedia -
Euroscepticism, immigration and foreign policy. UKIP embraces the ideology of hard Euroscepticism, also known as "Eurorejectionism". Opposition to the United Kingdom's continued membership of the European Union has been its "core issue" and is "central to the party's identity".

    I’m stunned.

Where in the draft is this reneged on?

Too complex to be bothered to write it all down but consider this:
