Here are the results for England.

The "give me a mandate for a hard brexit" party : 319 to 297 or -22 seats
The "let's have a pragmatic 'jobs first' brexit and try to keep close ties to our most important trading party" 206 to 221 or +21 seats
The "stay in the EU" parties 9 to 11 or + 2 seats
The swivel eyed loony party : 1 to 0 or a loss of -1 seat. :)

    So funny:rotfl:

    So it reads like this..

The brexit people voted for party 297 seats

The party that hasn't a clue what to say 221 seats

The stay in EU parties 11 seats

That doesn't include the DUP who also want to leave.

Now if my calculations are correct, which i think they are, then a substantial majority is for the brexit we voted for and those wanting to stay in the EU should just call it a day..

Matt, we moved on from that discussion.
Nobody (few exceptions) is talking about staying in the EU anymore.

I can't tell who you think is undermining democracy here.

Davis himself said that if you can't change your mind, it's not democracy.

Is it democratic to stick to a decision made by a tiny margin, and refuse to discuss any change of opinion?
Or is it democratic to re-assess a decision made previously when there's a chance the answer has changed?

We have elections every 5 years, so allowing for changing minds seems like the latter is the done thing.
Then in 5 years people will have another chance to have there say, if you think that you can ignore the result of referendum and ignore manifesto without causing a great deal of mistrust you really are blinkered.

I'm pretty sure I did, at least twice.

But the answer is simple: Politics.

May is in power with a majority bought off the DUP.

If she cancells Brexit, it'll split the party and end her career.

    You didn’t, not really.
This isn’t just the Tory party and its DUP friends pushing Brexit through, you do know that?
Why hasn’t Labour stopped Brexit in the face of such strong and revised public opinion?

One third of Brits believed the 350 million promise on the infamous bus. It was the centerpiece of the Leave campaign.
The day after the referendum, that promise was discarded.
Did that undermine democracy in any way?

We keep hearing about riots and revolts when brexit gets fudged.
I'd be more worried when the brexiteering underclasses find out they've been sold a dud. :)
And many believed that the economy would crash straight away so its meaningless

I have no idea why Labour aren't fighting the Tories much harder on Brexit. Honestly no clue.

Then why did you bother posting about it then??

I also think that pointing out that a party that campaigned on a manifesto that clearly stated that we would leave the CU and SM and won with a sizeable majority is relevant..

As stated in their manifesto, leaving the SM and CU, which won them a majority..
