So despite repeatedly being told by our government that there won't be any second referendum and being given what look like very good reasons why, some of you here think that there will be a second referendum?
Man that's delusional!
Or just very hopeful?
Or maybe most of the UK's "I can,t believe Brexit is happening! Please make it stop"-ers are in this thread?0 -

I don't think there is likely to be a second referendum, I don't think it is impossible either however.
I wouldn't pay a great deal of attention to what this government says on anything personally, if you believed what they said there definitely wasn't going to be an early general election in 2017, how did that work out in the end?0 -

If GDP falls then so do tax receipts (and National Insurance contributions, FWIW) but this can be got-around by borrowing more. Ask the labour party.
The NHS is funded by these tax receipts and NI contrib's.
There is then a correlation in that - were tax/NI receipts to fall, if the government of the day did not then borrow more then budgets such as the NHS would have to be cut.
Austerity, innit?0 -

For example, it would be seen as an affront to democracy and lead to civil unrest.
Plus according to YouGov from mid December, and the question: "At this point would you prefer that Britain stays in or leaves the European Union?" 39% wanted to stay. 48% wanted to leave and 13% didn't know.0 -
I agree that another referendum is unlikely.
Listen to this from Michael Hewson, Chief Market Analyst for CMC Markets in a video here:

What would happen if there was a second EU referendum?0

Adonis weighs in:when President Macron meets Theresa May at the Franco-British summit at Sandhurst, the elite military academy, on Thursday, the vital “take away” for him is that Brexit is not a done deal. It can, and quite possibly will, be reversed by an increasingly likely referendum on May’s Brexit terms early next year – once the Brexit terms are clear, but before Britain is due to leave on 29 March 2019

I can't see any way that Leave will carry a second referendum.0 -
UK loses Galileo project:
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-galileo-satellite-space-industry-move-from-london-to-spain-madrid-uk-a8165841.html“This is what we can say today. As is the case with all committee procedures the college [of commissioners] will now formally adopt this decision in its meeting next Wednesday.”
He confirmed that the system was being moved “as consequence of the UK withdrawal from the EU”.
The relocation is the latest blow to Britain’s space industry from Brexit. In November UK aerospace firms and the Royal Aeronautical Society said they were being excluded from contracts because of the decision to leave the EU, with contracts for Galileo particularly affected.
Well I guess this cutting edge GPS system isn't relevant to our space industry anyway. We'll just launch Thunderbird 1 and have it buzz Brussels and then the frogs and the krauts will know who to respect.0 -
I now reluctantly agree with you Arklight, but not your silly prediction of 60 40. Because some people just cannot except democracy and have used ever sneaky trick in the book to reverse this vote a 2nd referendum will shut them up for good.
And I hope they get all the stick they deserve for wasting so much along with a harder Brexit than would be the case now.
You won last time with the thinnest margin based on some incredible lies, most of which have been walked back on.
Anything could happen of course but I don't think we'll be stupid enough to do it again.0 -

The electorate still remember those incredible lies about the Emergency Budget and an extra 4p on income tax and an immediate recession and mass unemployment, even if Remain doesn't repeat them. And without those lies, what what else have Remain got?
Vote Remain, you know you hate your job anyway? Vote Remain for cheaper shares?0
