Brexit, the economy and house prices part 5

If we couldn't trust the politicians to inform the public correctly about the last referendum, then how on earth can we trust that another referendum is the way to correct such matters?
I'd have more respect for the politicians, if they openly said they knew better than the public, and were going to decide anyway. At least they would be being honest! (Maybe the ensuing short lived career would put them off)
I agree, the decisions on Brexit need informed opinion and referendums are not the best way to decide such questions. Let Parliament decide on the evidence.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -

What makes you think that 650 people earning the equivalent (incl pensions etc) of 4x times the average wage are better informed about the interests of the average worker, than average workers themselves?0 -

Why on Earth Barnier feels the need I don't know.
Farage wants to try and stay relevant because it's all he's got. Barnier is trying to be fair because he's met with loads of irrelevant people.
I really hope the meeting is recorded so we can find out what actually happens, because Farage is never going to give an honest account of his humiliation.0 -
A workmate has had a cough for a month but has been deflected from getting any tests by the surgerys nurse. I'm not sure that's right.
Are you claiming better medical knowledge that that nurse?
Without going into detail (which I understand is discouraged in these forums anyway as is providing medical advice, and rightly so) there can be many reasons for a cough lasting for this long and - although it may indeed be worrying if you're the one experiencing a cough - if you have been seen by a medical professional of which a practice nurse is one such example and been informed that as yet there is no need for "getting any tests", unless you have a pretty good reason for being unhappy with the advice of this professional you should heed that advice.
No doubt this workmate will have been advised that if the symptoms do not ease or disappear within X period of time he should return to the surgery.0 -

The average worker elected them to do the job.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
