I think we should introduce a Brexit tax. It can be taken at source from the people who voted for Brexit to pay for this colossal mess.
They can also be the ones who don't get to keep their EU citizenship and have to queue up for a visa on the two occasions in their lives they go to France.0 -

The colossal mess continues today with news that UK manufacturing is at a 4 year high, it’s a killer this Brexit thingy.
One of the unintended joys of Brexit for me is the fact that my world view has trumped yours and is obviously causing you a great deal of

This surely adds to their angst.
"UK landed record foreign investment in year of Brexit vote"Net FDI flows jumped to 145.6 billion pounds in 2016, up from 25.3 billion pounds in 2015 and the largest value recorded for a year since comparable data began to be compiled in 2006.
Anti-Brexit campaigners had warned before the June 2016 referendum that a vote to leave the European Union would make Britain less attractive place to foreign investors.

From the article....“The large value of inward FDI flows recorded were dominated by a handful of high-value M&A deals in 2016,” the Office for National Statistics said. “Large publicly reported transactions in 2016 included the acquisitions of SABMiller, ARM Holdings and BG Group.”
The Great British Firesale as a result of the GBP devaluation continues to sell off the crown jewels of UK business to foreigners.
That's why 'FDI' is up.
Probably not something worth cheering about.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Except you've quoted that rather selectively haven't you Tracey.Separate ONS figures from its balance of payments data have suggested 2017 is unlikely to be such a bumper year. Inflows of net direct investment to Britain in the first two quarters of 2017 slowed to about 20 billion pounds, down from 82 billion pounds in the same period of 2016.0 -

Good news although we should remember 2016 probably isn't the best year to choose for 'winning brexit' because the referendum didn't happen until mid-year, we won't actually leave (probably) until 2019 and 2016 figures were flattered by a few big takeovers.
How's it going for 2017? From the same article..Separate ONS figures from its balance of payments data have suggested 2017 is unlikely to be such a bumper year. Inflows of net direct investment to Britain in the first two quarters of 2017 slowed to about 20 billion pounds, down from 82 billion pounds in the same period of 2016.

Good idea, but unworkable.
As there's nothing to be taken 'at source' with the vast majority of the brexiteer brigade.
No, the bill will be picked up by people with an actual stake in society. By entrepreneurs, risk takers, net tax payers, innovators, etc..
In other words, by remainers.Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -

Manufacturing is just 10% of the UK economy...
Meanwhile back in the real world, UK economic performance has dropped from being First in the developed world to the Worst in the G7 and the EU since the Brexit vote.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
