The amount of plurks that think leaving the single market is a good idea means someone has to do it, seeing as we can't rely on our own politicians to tell the truth. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Your sincere Christmas cards must be a comfort to you if not the recipient.
When quitters dismiss concerns of the poor, the unemployed, the left behind, Brits living in a foreign land, then I know them for what they are.....Home Counties, including Cheshire, Posh blinkered Conservitive voters with no care for their fellow man.
Let me tell you as obviously you DO NOT live in the real world, that you are not a Brit who is an immigrant living in an EU27 country that you have no place in this debate.
You have "no skin in the game"
PS, sorry I don't know what part of Britain you live as you hide (don't disclose) that in your profile
Home Counties???? How dare you. Complete dump.
And as for Cheshire, well one wouldn’t allow one’s butler to take a number two there what with all those footballers and their orange girlfriends littering the place up.
Perhaps when you feel ready to return to old Blighty you’d care to pop round for tiffin and we can have a good old chat about this quaint old town of Luxembourg you call home. I’ve never been to Belgium but I hear the moules-frites is simply tip top.0 -

How funny and lacking in knowledge of the EU.
I happen to live in one of the EU27. The average person in the UK can not only dream of doing the same but can do it very easily.
Hop on a plain or drive over the Channel and take up residence. Simples!
However that door, thanks to quittlings closes at the end of March 2019.
Afterwards there will be new rules, probably reciprocal with the EU. Given Britain will take control of the border those rules will be dictated by Britain. I hope that after Brexit it will still be possible for young and old Britains to settle in the EU27.
As for "tax haven" Normally the super rich use tax havens and they can be anywhere in the world.
I, a normal individual who worked all his life and now retired pays tax and social security payments in Luxembourg on his income at a rate not dissimilar to the rates in Britain. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

Out of curiosity. What's the tota tax payable on a £20,000 (€22,400) retirement income.Hop on a plain or drive over the Channel and take up residence. Simples!
That's the sort of comment that doesn't warrant a response.0 -
At the moment I know David Davis together with the British Government has no interest in me. Strangely Barnier has made me feel that I am important to him and the EU.
Sad but true.
I think "no interest in you" is a tad strong, the UK Government quite naturally have UK residents interests as a priority from now on. Ironically you might find yourself lower down the list than EU citizens resident in the UK also, it's only fair in a post Brexit scenario that we look after those choosing to live and work in the new dynamic UK that is coming. At least you have solace in the fact that you have a familiar bolthole to come home to if the resurgence of mainland European fascism plays out as some fear. It must be scary to live so close to a nation that's just put 90 odd fascists in its national parliament. Thank God for Brexit.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -
Given your post, are you not amazed The British Government have not considered the implications of Brexit on Ireland and consulted experts on how they can work to solving this problem.

Oh, hang on.
You don't, do you?
You just want do roll over for the EU that you so obviously adore or - better yet - rescind Brexit altogether.
Bad news ahead for you.
Neither of those is going to happen.0 -

You miss the point, naturally.
British citizens living in the EU27 and EU citizens living in Britain are linked in any deal.
The deal on Citizens Rights will be reciprocated for both sides.
I see why you think this Government would be thinking of the huge amount of taxes and social security money that EU citizens pay in to the UK treasury, plus the enormous amount of money spent by those EU citizens in British shops and resteraunts. Their large contribution to the British economy is staggering.
The only strange thing is that David Davis is ignoring everyone!
Never say never but it is unlikely I will return to the sadly now unfamiliar bolt hole as I see the rise of right wing politics a much bigger threat in British society. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
TBH I'm more amazed that you consider the implications upon a population of under 2 million NI residents as being more important than that of the other 60-odd million population of mainland UK or that you think the UK aren't doing anything.

Well I do think that a return to a situation where shots were regularly fired close to the border very important. Perhaps the people in England Scotland and Wales should not collectively turn their back on the people of Northern Ireland.
brexit will happen because the EU27 will not want you back.
Yes bad news is ahead for Britain. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

The majority of that 2 million population would probably place their UK citizenship above that of the EU variety.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0
