Why does everyone think it is only "us" who have the idiots?
Any deal agreed has to get approval from the rest of the EU27. You don't suspect there might be some national interests going on there?
I can understand why the A50 sets a time frame, with a basic leave position.0 -

That was one of the key points from the remain side. Brexiteers were telling us that we held all of the aces and the EU would fall over themselves to give us a fantastic deal in no time at all and that one we were free of the EU we’d have a queue of countries with deals to sign.
The first part of that has proved to be info rrect but hopefully the second part will prove to be fact.0 -
I thought this was an interesting read and it is from a Leaver, (I do like to get out of my bubble from time to time!). It does echo my thoughts that "No Deal" might placate the more evangelical Leavers in the short run, but its a big problem for them in the medium term.

Whilst banking/city jobs apparently aren't leaving London, it seems like a lot of their kids are:
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-07-02/brexit-banker-kids-leave-top-u-k-schools-with-rare-empty-seats
There's been about a 10% drop in 'international' schools in London, with a corresponding increase in Frankfurt & Paris. These are people willing to pay £11k/year for schools and are likely paying a lot of money in tax. And now they are moving their families and spending outside of the UK.
Still Project Fear?0 -

If this does indeed happen then there’s every chance that these highly paid workers may relocate completely at some point. If so there will be plenty of brexiteers saying good riddance without realising that losing this tax income and the spending that these people do will affect them.
We’ve already been told that tax rates will rise in some form to pay for the extra NHS spending. There could well be more rises to come.
Fortunately I can afford to pay more tax.0 -

Fortunately I can afford to pay more tax.
Although as usual with the current Tory party there is no consensus on what those tax rises should be, supposedly removing the freeze on fuel duty is now encountering significant opposition within the party.
As ever we want Scandinavian level public services, we just don't want to pay the level of taxes required to fund them.0 -
Or we just allow those at the top to avoid most of their taxes, because those loopholes benefit the rule-makers.0

Go after a Branson type, and there is every chance they will take some form of retaliation.
I suspect policy at the higher end is steered more by pragmatism than ideals.0 -
Theresa May apparently briefed Merkel before allowing the cabinet to see the full plan.
How humiliating can it get.
That's what happens when you have remainers in charge of Brexit.

Oh, and here's the plan.

you're probably on my ignore list.0 -

If in doubt blame Remainers.0
