Hope you find the missing item!

  • Hurrah the missing present has been found!! I've been searching for days and DH finally remembered today where he'd moved it for safe keeping!! So relieved I don't have to buy something else.

Have paid £20 to CC3 today. Definitely won't be able to keep up with this level of payments at the beginning of next year.

Poor DC2 is poorly. She's got tonsilitis and I feel awful as her tonsils are so swollen her throat is almost closed :(. I really should have taken her to the doctors yesterday, but she was fine up until 3ish, when we would have struggled to get an appointment. She's being a nightmare having the penicillin, as she says it tastes horrible. Only another 9 days to go of having it!!

  • Morning ,

DH got paid for some additional work yesterday, so I've paid £205 off CC3. This means that the balance of CC3 is now just under £5k :D. When I first started paying extra to CC3 after paying off CC2, the balance was around £11k and I was really daunted by the task of clearing it. So pleased I made smaller targets for myself when the balance was high and even now I love the challenge of getting into the next hundred or thousand bracket. I'm hoping to have this card completely gone by the end of October next year, then I can start on reducing the large balance on CC4.

Today we are going to have a quiet day at home, as DC2 needs to rest. Am planning on batch cooking lots of soup later and if I get a chance make a beef stew as well. DH is off today, so hoping we can achieve a fair bit this weekend.

Hope everyone has a good weekend :).

  • Thanks Jwil. Luckily DC2 seems to be getting better. Tonsils are still huge, but the temperature has gone which is good :).

I've rounded down my bank account today, sending £9 to CC3 and 39p to debt savings.

Need to chase up presents I'm still waiting to arrive. I'm awaiting a Lego set from The Entertainer, which I ordered on the 3rd December. Have emailed them, but no response :(. Also a couple of other things I ordered at the beginning of the month, which I think were being sent from China. May have to buy the Lego set elsewhere just in case, as need to drop it to my brother later this week.

  • Morning,

Have rounded down the bank account again today, sending £6 to CC3 and 3p to debt savings. I've updated ynab, including adding the daily mortgage interest to my mortgage budget. I like being able to see how much interest is being added each month, especially to our variable rate small balance. I keep thinking that I should try and shift the small variable balance (£2,838.78) to a 0% credit card, but not sure with brexit looming whether that is a sensible idea. In all reality we wouldn't be able to clear it within a year, not on top of everything else. It's currently having interest of around 29p a day added, so as long as the money transfer fee didn't exceed a years interest we'd sort of be even. Just not sure whether it really matters about moving it in the grand scheme of things. I know if we left it to run for the remaining 16 years it'd be a silly amount of interest and I wouldn't ever leave it to run that long, but just not sure if I'm worrying about something not as important when I've got so much debt as it is. Think I'll continue to mull it over for a bit longer.

I managed to buy the Lego set yesterday in Tesco for the same amount as I paid at The Entertainer and have contacted them to cancel my order. So fingers crossed I think I am completely finished getting Christmas bits and bobs. Now just need to distribute the gifts over the next few days to my friends kids and family.

  • I would leave your mortgage alone for now. Focus on clearing the remaining credit cards then you can overpay on the mortgage. There is no guarantee 0% deals are going to be available ad Infinitum so unless you plan to clear that £2838 within the deal period you just give yourself the headache of clearing that as well as CC3 and CC4 and your husbands business cards.

Thanks EnthusiasticSaver. I think you're right, especially with DH's 0% cards needing to be balance transferred in 2019. It's good having someone else's opinion on it. I'll leave it for now and look forward to tackling it once the CCs are gone. Thanks again :).

  • Have rounded down the bank account again this morning, sending £9 to CC3 and 57p to debt savings.

My budget is hanging on for the month end. I haven't got loads left in the food budget, so need to have another look at the Tesco shop booked for Friday, which I booked weeks ago. Our freezers are pretty full, so other than some more fruit, veg, milk and bread we should be ok. I booked my Christmas delivery when the dates were first released, but to be honest I'm not overly sure why I bothered! We don't tend to go overboard for Christmas dinner and just have a chicken roast, with a few added extras (stuffing and pigs in blankets).

Today will be spent visiting a few people to deliver gifts. DC2 is loads better, but we won't be mixing with people too much, as I don't want her coming down with another bug.

    Have a good day.

I also want to keep the kids away from everyone so they don't pick anything up :rotfl: Roll on Friday!
