End of month money has been shuffled... most to savings but a chunk off the mortgage too.
Buyers came round yesterday with their architect. Hoping to see some action on the legal side of things at some point. Estate agent is still unresponsive...
Work is busy. Hoping to spend some time in the garden this weekend as the moles have been busy and the grass has been growing.8 -

I have been gazumped...
I'm not overly upset - the place I was buying wasn't perfect, and there will be other houses.
My buyers have done very little, and the agents have needed a LOT of chasing to get updates. But apparently they have now received the sellers pack (which we emailed on 17th August and had been told they had received, only to be told a couple of weeks ago that they hadn't... it has been emailed again several times AND posted) and requested searches which they expect to get on 26th September. No survey has been booked yet, so I'm willing to bet their mortgage hasn't been approved. As a result, I'm not actually looking for anything else right now.
I suspect I'll still be here for several more months, but for now I'm putting off buying more oil (500l minimum order). So heating is off (I probably need to bring the electric radiator in to use in my office, which gets cold), and I'm only heating the hot water when I need to wash my hair - the anti-legionella programme on the thermostat means it keeps hot enough for handwashing/washing up/washing. And as I've had a very vibrant colour put in recently, I've been told not to wash my hair too much - thank goodness for remote working where it isn't so obvious I'm not washing it!
The garden is starting to slow down in terms of productivity. Beans aren't doing much, courgettes are over (just put in the garden waste bin), there's still the odd strawberry and autumn raspberry, and the tomatoes have had a haircut so that the remaining ones are in with a chance of ripening. There's lettuce and chard still. I need to think what to sow for the winter in case I'm still here for a while.
I don't have much in the way of wood left to burn - I'm going to try to split a few more logs over the weekend, and consider starting to dismantle the large log store to give me more pallet wood to burn. But then I have lots of other stuff to do in the garden, and need to tidy the garage and get the garden furniture packed up too!
The extra bank holiday will be put to good use tidying inside and out. I'm then away for a week for work, which will give the garden time to untidy itself again.8 -
How irritating on being gazumped - and part way through the process. The buyers seem slow too. I must admit - although I'd love to move to somewhere more rural - the thought of all the stress of moving puts me right off. You sound like you are taking it in your stride - not a lot of choice I expect....Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
