Not to let them in. To ask them which agent they were meeting and tell them they were welcome to wander round the garden while they waited but that I was in a meeting.
I've accepted an offer now, and have one in on a house I like - it went to best and final on Friday, and the vendors are considering the offers over the weekend. Fingers crossed. But if it doesn't work out, I'm sure there will be other houses.
My EA continues to be a PITA - no MOS yet and no sense of urgency about it. I'm away for work next week, so my buying agent is going to put pressure on them. Once we have that, then the solicitors will put the pressure on too. Aiming to exchange ASAP with a long 'complete on or before' date.7 -

Paperwork moving slowly as ever - I've got a survey booked for my purchase, but nothing much happening on the sale. Hopefully as they buyers are back from their holiday this week they will get a move on. I need to do some paperwork for the solicitor too (formally instructing them for the purchase) and ask the buying agent for advice on how to get the purchase moving.
Garden is very dry - the stream is drying up on the north side, but still just about damp on the west, so I'll leave all the plants in to avoid reducing the water level further. Moles are working along the front so I need to trap. Strawberries and raspberries are producing - not prolific, but enough for a few berries each day. Most of the tomatoes are refusing to ripen, and it doesn't look like the aubergines and peppers will do much. Still a few beans and courgettes being produced, and plenty of chard. I need to start sowing salad and maybe beans in the hope that they will germinate and keep me going until I leave.
I also need to start running down the freezers and cupboards as I don't want to move food. And packing up odds and ends to take back to my mum's a car full at a time. Most stuff will be packed and moved professionally, but it makes sense to shift what I can if I don't need it here.5 -
It is that tricky 'no mans land' stage where you look at everything and do 'is this worth paying to move?' and 'but I paid for this' and should use it.
I am assuming you know some decent spa spots half way?

Sale still moving at a sloth-like pace. Buyers coming back with an architect on Wednesday to look round again - I hope they're actually getting moving with the legal side of things, as according to the app my solicitors use, the buyers' solicitors have had the contract pack since August 17th. I have no idea how long it should take to deal with. There's also been no sign of either a mortgage valuation report/survey being booked yet.
On the purchase side, I'm waiting for the contract pack, had a survey done on Friday (no major issues) and went for another viewing yesterday where I took a few photos and measured up in a couple of places. If this chain works out there's a fitted fridge, freezer and DW, so I will offer mine to my buyers on that basis. If they don't want them, I'll either sell them before I move or move them and then sell. I've also had an appointment to talk to a mortgage advisor about porting my mortgage - apparently it can take up to 6 weeks to get a decision, which means earliest possible moving date would be mid-November. However, I was notified that the valuation arrived two days later, so I'm assuming that for 20% LTV they didn't even bother with a drive-by and just looked at the photos!
Garden and greenhouse are producing enough that I don't really need to spend on food at the moment between that and the freezer/cupboards contents. And clearly I need to get the chest freezer emptied. It's hard not being able to start packing things up and bringing them up to my mum's, but until exchange I'm being cautious.
I'm also trying not to use any more oil than is necessary, as minimum top-up is £500 which isn't worth it at this stage. The hot water tank seems to be pretty well insulated, and with careful, quick showering, a 15 minute boost is lasting a week. All washing up is going in the DW on an eco programme, laundry is being done on cool/short/eco programmes with the exception of the occasional hot wash for bedding/towels. Water from handwashing/veg washing/showers is being collected in washing up bowls and buckets for watering the garden as the rain isn't keeping the water butts full. I have had to fill the ones that feed the greenhouse drippers and raised beds with tap water a couple of times, but using 'grey' water for day-to-day watering is minimising the water bill.
I'm also assuming that reading on my kindle is cheaper than reading with the light on - and the kindle unlimited subscription is certainly cheaper than my book habit!
Despite buying a house that isn't a project this time, I know there will need to be money spent when I move in, so need to keep the savings healthy. Plus there are moving costs. And I need to pay a small chunk off the mortgage if it isn't down to the agreed transfer level by the time I complete. It's going to involve some careful timing and maths!
Currently staying with my mum for the BH, having spent time with lots of family who I'll soon be living near! I've been bringing a few things back to keep here and will be transporting cardboard boxes home with me next week ready for whenever I feel I can start packing.8 -
Sounds like you're doing some good work while things are moving, albeit slowly. All fingers and toes crossed. Like the Kindle maths!4

I just need to try not to spend too much until I've moved! And hope my expenses get paid reasonably soon... I'll have another lot before this lot are paid off I think. We only do a pay run for expenses once a month as far as I can tell.
Looked into household waste for the new place. Better than where I am, but sadly no food waste collection like my mum has, so i'll need to invest in another hot bin for that. Or clean out the existing one and bring it with me... Not sure I fancy that though!6
