I had lots of plans for today... and then woke up with a migraine and have achieved precisely nothing.
Actually, that's not entirely true. I've finally sent off the forms for a mentoring programme I was asked to join (and some messages letting people know I've done it). I've also replied to a headhunter suggesting a quick chat to ensure that expectations are aligned before sending a CV over.
Weight loss is still going to plan, but is going to start costing money as I will need to buy some new stuff - particularly gym kit. However, before I do that I must go through my existing wardrobe and try everything on. I found and wore a jumper the other day that I haven't worn for ages - it needs de-bobbling properly and the can go back into circulation along with the other stuff that actually fits. And the too big stuff needs to be packed away.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I have a more productive day tomorrow as my list is getting longer and I only have 5 days until I'm back at work ...1 -
I hope you can shift that migraine soon, thats no joke
In contrast, losing enough weight through exercise that you need to change the sizes of your clothes is a real achievement, congratulations.

Thanks KC. It went eventually, but it feels a bit of a waste of a day. I did get a few things done - washed 3 days of pilates kit (I really do need to buy some new bras though - the problem is that means either guessing size/quality online or a 30 minute drive to the nearest place with an actual shop with nice yoga stuff...), descaled the showerhead and put it back, submitted my details for a Women in Tech mentoring scheme that I was asked to join back in November (I still have a video to do for them) and had a bath.
I woke up at 4am thanks to the torrential rain, so finished my long work book at lastI've been into the next village and had my waxing done, picked up my coat from the dry cleaner and dropped off the box for webuybooks. I've also finally upacked my plants, but nearly got frostbite doing that so I'm not sure I'll plant them today.
While I have a HUGE todo list, part of me is tempted (as it's bright, but bitterly cold) to make the most of a weekday off and go into the next town to visit the health food shop, maybe buy a tablecloth (need to measure the table) have a wander round the shops and maybe have a hot chocolate in the bookshop... it's just a pity there's no yoga clothing there!
Ooh... and I could drop off the bras for recycling too...1 -
So I dropped the bras off... and then did some unscheduled shopping. My excuse is that I've lost a lot of weight so it was all needed. I also picked up a tablecloth from the fabric shop.
Eating didn't go well over the weekend, but I did get the bare root hedging planted. And my ISA transfer has gone through so that needs sorting out.
Pilates this morning, and catch-ups with a couple of friends - so not much done at home but time spent with people is more important. I also managed to get to TKMaxx and stock up on handcream and body lotion, and picked up some leggings in the Gap sale (I ordered yoga tops online).
I also remembered to leave a message for someone about quoting to fit the kitchen, and he's coming on Thursday to have a look and a chat. Hopefully I can persuade him to do some of the other things that are still outstanding.
Tomorrow is the last day of my sick leave, so Pilates first thing and then I need to get back to my list. Ironing, waterproofing boots, cleaning boots and making room in my office to be able to work on Wednesday. Can't see it all happening.

Went to Pilates - managed to forget to unlock the front door for the cleaner, so she couldn't get in - but then she's supposed to be here well before I leave (rarely is). So I'm going to remind her that if she lets me know she's going to be late I might remember to unlock the front door... She's only here for another month or so anyway - I need to find a replacement, preferably someone who also irons.
I haven't done a huge amount with my last day off - but I have done a load of laundry, made the robots do the hoovering, cleaned and waterproofed all my boots (and put one pair in the car to take to be resoled), been to see a neighbour to get details of her tree/hedge people (we share a small piece of hedge so it makes sense to use the same people), changed the camera batteries on the CCTV and put the others in to charge, made a GP appointment and an appointment for a smear, confirmed the date/time for the lady who does blinds to come over and sort out the details for the first room she's doing.
So not a huge amount, but lots of stuff out of the way. I do need to do the ironing, but I'm putting it off!1 -
If I'd done that lot, I'd have called it a day's work :rotfl:
Waterproofing the boots! What a good ideaa lot of waterproofing doesn't happen around me
though I have fond memories of waxing my jacket on holiday on the West Coast of Scotland

I'm not sure how waterproof they'll be, but at least I've sprayed them! I don't understand why they don't come already treated... I also cleaned and sprayed some older ones which hopefully are now looking a bit smarter!1

Builder came round today, and is happy to quote for the kitchen AND do the little jobs. No problem fitting it in apparently as it's fairly straightforward. So in the next couple of weeks I need to finalise the plan, book the electrics, find the worktop/sink/tap/water filter/cooker hood/extractor fan and get the details over to him.
I got the details from my neighbour of the people who do her hedges and trees - turns out they can come tomorrow and if I'm happy with the quote they can start tomorrow and possibly finish on Saturday. Frankly if they can do it immediately then they can have the job as it's one less thing to think about.
Lots of ironing done today while listening to sessions from Davos (which is part of my job...). I've got a bit more to do while I watch some rubbish on TV. I also made a couple of batches of soup and managed to fit in a very short walk.
I darned a small hole in a jumper the other day - as I didn't have the right colour thread I've embroidered (not too badly considering the lack of recent practice!) a small flower over the hole. I've quite enjoyed sitting in front of the fire sewing in the evening. I might even think about getting back into it - I do have a sewing machine (my mum has it at the moment) but hand sewing is what I enjoy.
I guess I should finish unloading and reloading the dishwasher and then get the last of the ironing done. I have to be up bright and early for the tree people. And also remember to rewrite an article that our PR team have placed with the Swedish media (let's hope the do a better job of the translation than the Germans did... ).1 -

The Davos connection sounds fascinating, greenbee
All available for anyone to listen to online. I just get to claim that it’s work... along with reading sci-fiMind you, Yuval Harari is annoying me a lot - not a surprise as his book did too.
The prime minister of Singapore was really interesting.
Lots too think about - I need to see whether I can download some of the sessions to listen to against on the plane on Sunday.1
