Wishing you a lovely dayMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I hope it goes well and the weather stays clear for you all. And that poor Stinky and the cats cope with it all.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

- Clear dining table and work out what needs doing with stuff on it Not quite cleared, but better than it was AND I finally used the non-slip underlay for the rugs rather than must moving it.
- Put up thermal curtains that were taken down for the summer. Now need to take them down!
- Sort out either curtains or velcroed blind fabric for kitchen windows (or both) Sewed a couple of muslin curtains onto a tension rod for one window, and put masses of house plants in the other window.
- Cut long grass in veg plot
- Mow veg plot if it dried out enough
- Tidy odds and ends in greenhouse and put anything portable into small shed
- Move mower into garage
- Tidy big shed (mostly full of cardboard) Didn't need it
- Clear sticks and bits of bone from grass (and check for dog poo) Wasn't too bad so didn't bother - and any dog poo would have been in the long grass away from paths
- Mulch left-hand border
- Top up greenhouse pots with decent compost
- Ericaceous feed
- Shrub feeding
- Tomato feeding
- Weed worst bits of drive
- Move succulent pot from outside front door to back door
- Move bits of granite from outside porch to behind shed with the rest
- prune dead bit of front hedge
- Remove any marigolds that didn't like being moved
- Pick cavolo nero, spinach, strawberries
- Sow spinach (? check for space in cavolo nero bed)
- Sow more peas (in new raised bed - put hazel supports in)
Some of the things on the list still need doing, but nothing is urgent.
Stinky had a lovely long walk this morning and a shorter one when we were finished. He really, really wanted to see who was in the garden, but was good and didn't bark or whine. I'm yet to hear how much money we raised, but given we didn't advertise much, we aren't expecting a huge amount.

It was nice, but a bit odd. And a lot of hanging around. Met some neighbours I hadn't met before, had some nice conversations.
Am now exhausted and headachy - but did manage to walk the dog and feed him and the cats. Have hung out the cleaning cloths washed yesterday, picked and eaten strawberries, and taken down the curtains on the tension rod. I just need to take down the curtains over the kitchen door and then it's mostly back to normal (although I'm soaking houseplants before I put them back in their homes).

And the elderflowers are out and I want to make elderflower cordial.3

When I feel exhausted and headachy it is usually down in part to dehydration. I make up a pint of oral rehydration solution, based on the recipe for St Mark's solution, flavouring it with a generous dash of lemon juice. I drink this over a few hours in addition to the other drinks I normally have. Also including wet foods like grapes, cucumber, melon...
What ever the cause and solution I hope you feel better soon.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Could have been dehydration as I wasn't drinking as much as normal (but that's not necessarily a bad thing) but I didn't get a migraine which is my normal response to dehydration. It's most likely post-exertion malaise as a result of overdoing things prepping for the Open Gardens!
I've been soaking all my house plants, and have just repotted the three that really weren't going to make it much longer in their existing pots. They're being re-soaked and I'll put them back shortly so I can clear up for the cleaner.
Behind on work, so need to get some done today. Also need to fill up lots of pots with compost as I have a LOT of bare roots that urgently need taking out of their plastic bags and planting AND a delivery of 45 'garden ready' plants later today. It'll all be a good investment for next year, but probably a bit rash to try to do so much this year.
Squash seeds have FINALLY germinated. Various other things in the greenhouse should be ready to pot on/plant out soon. Likewise stuff in the propagators. I might need to dig some more beds. I also need to order some climbing roses for my obelisks.
Stinky has been booked in for the snip, but I need to change the date due to book group - no chance of an early night and he has a bedtime snack, likewise no chance of me wanting a long walk in the morning to distract him from no wake-up snack or breakfast!
Lots of laundry happening due to visitors/lots of sunshine. It's nice to be able to use the TD whenever I like due to the solar generation, but mostly I'm line-drying as I prefer it - and now is the time to make the most of the export, as prices are very likely to drop over the next few years.
I really do need to deal with the house insurance renewal...5 -
With you on preferring line-drying even when the pricing (in your case solar) says it's better to use the TD - with the exception being towels - which reminds me what I need to remember to do on Sunday if pricing is as low as suggested!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Ignorant Q. Do they give dogs the snip or castrate them?
Babydog is not far behind Stinky.
