Admiring a very large log basket.  Have been on the look out for one of those!  I'm imaging those seen in posh pubs that a small child can be placed in!
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

You could fit quite a large child in it Watty! My mum stopped using it as it’s too big/deep for her. So it’s been in the garage collecting cobwebs.

    • Put away anything in the garden that might blow over (most of the garden furniture is in, so it’s a good time to do the last few bits. Managed to get the sweet pea supports out and put away, and the recliners and folder wooden chairs put away too.
    • Walk dog as there might not be another opportunity later  Got soaked. One of us minded, one of us didn't...
    • Dog to vet He had the BEST time with all his friends at the vet and was given lots of treats as well his his vaccinations. I also have worm/flea for him and the cats. And he was weighed - I can keep him on the increased rations as he's actually lost weight since he had his bits off.
    • Try a couple more things to get radiators working including a. shutting down all the other radiators upstairs to force it through them and b. balancing them (which needs doing anyway)… all without getting in the decorator’s way. Radiators are now heating up, so new carpet is confirmed for Monday. They still need balancing.
    • Tidy for cleaner. Have started on bedroom. Really need to finish this, and might as well strip the bed at the same time.
    • Cook rest of BNS and freeze.
    • Fill any remaining empty kongs/lick mats
    • Hang pictures in bedroom I’m using
    • Strip and remake bed.
    • Sort laundry for next cheap/sunny slot
    • Hoover new log basket and find old dust sheet to line bottom. Clean liner. Fill log basket.

    The log basket sounds nice.
It sounds like you are feeling much better but you have had Covid so don't push yourself too hard

Log basket is nice... but probably needs a new lining. However, that's not the most important thing!

Decorator has finished, so I've hoovered the bedroom and can clean the bathroom (he finished too late for the cleaner to do it) and start putting stuff back in there. But not right now. There are other things to do! (Dog wants another walk for starters!).

I've just ordered my mum an electric blanket, as she's got really bad back ache and mentioned yesterday that although she had hot water bottles, sometimes the mattress feels cold. I might get myself one too!

Having fixed the radiators I started putting the blinds up... I can't make the bedroom ones fit. The decorator clearly had trouble getting them to go back straight, but the one that was really tight is now way too big... and I can't work out the other one either. I've taken the brackets down tried putting them up differently but can't make it work. Ensuite blinds went up fine...

Pictures and mirror are back up - I just need to put two picture pins up for the last two pictures. I also want to wax the wall shelves before I put them up. But I'm hoping that the ensuite can be back to normal and the pictures and blinds and lampshade up before the carpet fitters arrive on Monday. Oh, and the bulb holder in the bathroom has a crack in the bit that holds up the lampshade, so I don't trust it to hold a glass shade. Need to sort that out too.

Gardener/handyman is due tomorrow (although he didn't turn up to my mum's today, didn't read her message confirming she wanted him to go, didn't cancel, and she hasn't been able to get him on the phone, so we're a bit worried about him) so hopefully he can sort the blinds out.

I've also realised that there's no point in balancing the radiators as there is another one to change and another one to add on the landing.

My cleaner came today, so the level of dust in the house has reduced dramatically...

No gardener today. Unfortunately the other residents didn't really go for the lie-in idea. Oddly I woke up at 3.45 (no idea why) and realised there was a light on downstairs - I'd left the outside light on. When I went down I could see Stinky by the kitchen door, so put on my dressing gown and let him out - he shot out of the door and emptied himself :) Stripey cat then got up at 6am, so let him out with her and gave him some biscuits to keep him busy.

Cat and dog breakfast at 8am - Fatty doesn't like hers. Also doesn't like her lunch, but there's been some hunting going on in the flowerbeds (and she ate her venison last night). Coffee in bed and finished my book.

Hung out the washing done overnight, shoved cleaning cloths in the machine, went for a walk and chatted with neighbours. Came back for coffee and then put some cardboard on the veg plot before making lunch for the animals and myself, unloading the WM of cleaning cloths and reloading with the fly screens. There are three to do, but they only need a 15 minute wash and a blow on the line so I can put them away.

Thought I'd solve the problem of the light fitting in the bathroom, but it turns out it's slightly different from the two that came out of the bathroom, so I can't swap bits over.

This morning was gloriously sunny (and cold and windy!), but it's now clouded over, so I'm glad we went out for a walk first thing. I'm hoping I can clear a decent amount of laundry ready for back to work next week. And maybe do some baking/soup making etc with the cheap/free/negative priced electricity over the weekend.

Must also keep bleeding the radiators (and chasing the plumber).

3:45?????? - What kind of ungawdly hour is that! - Poor you - I have a queue of boring podcasts to lull me back to sleep when this happens!

At the moment we don't have outside lights to worry about thank-goodness - I'm wondering if you might be able to switch yours over to a timer/motion detector? - them of the plastic grass have an automatic light on the shared front staircase & the one that was once wired to the back wall, and is on it's own breaker seems to have been cut off through the cable before we moved in - we suspect MrCrazy next door, but it can't be proven!  We just turned off the breaker the first time it blew in a rainstorm and cut off the whole house!  It is now capped and at some point I'll decide what kind of wiring I want in the back-yard - probably to the summer-house/office.

I rarely turn the outside light on, which is probably why I forgot about it! But I'm surprised I didn't notice it when I turned off the hall/landing lights (or earlier in the night, as I could see the light clearly through the (open, due to cats needing to get out) bedroom door. I'm glad I did wake up though, as poor Stinky was clearly desperate!

I do have billions of outside lights, but really don't find them necessary - I removed the floodlight at the front of the garage (just under a leaky bit of guttering), and the rest are just turned off (the cart shed where the cars live has lights on a sensor, but those would just be annoying). The garden lights are used very occasionally if it's a nice evening and more than candle/fire light is needed outside. Given that we're very rural, I don't think there is much need for outside lighting, although there are a few people in the village who clearly disagree. Not many though!

Fly screens are washed and on the line, and a mixed load is in the machine. Hand washing is soaking. I've got a couple of loads of towels I want to do, but it looks like pricing will be good for hot washes/TD tomorrow.

Stinky is bored, but outside is now not very nice. I've picked up all the giant fir cones from the garden (not many, just ones brought back from walks), and finally got round to putting them in a basket in the garage to dry out. There are a couple of small bits of garden furniture that I'll aim to bring in to the cart shed over the next few days to dry out too. Just stopped for coffee and clementines and then i'll go and shift some logs from the porch to the sitting room/new log basket and the log store to the porch. I think the new log basked will allow me to clear the log store quite quickly, which means I can start moving the logs from the back into the log store... hopefully the log splitter can be fixed and brought back over here soon. If not, I'll have to collect my maul from my mum's and split them by hand.
