Another good month for Auric Goldfinger.
Being retired just got a little more interesting.

"Coronavirus is nowhere near the equivalent of the collapse in the mortgage market in the 2007/8 crash. The markets are still far above a year ago. I do not see any signs of the start of a major meltdown. (Famous last words?)".......... me on 29/02/2020.
Coronavirus is still an overblown story in my opinion, the economic crisis is only a month old, but real. With bourses up to a third devalued in such a short time it could well be that the unresolved issues from GFC1 are going to mean GFC2 is here. But with those in power around the world singing "we will do all it takes" you never know, they might pull off the same trick again. Let's see.
The elephant in the room of course is the fallout from the "lockdown" Only the strong will survive, I refer to both national and international businesses. We will be analysing this period for a while.
I think it true to say that gold is a very passive, but also a positively active action to have a defensive position. How do you take defensive positions with your choices.
Granny is still in self isolation. All our cruises are on hold proving that gold isn't the be all and end all, but it still shines nice..._
Edit, premiums have 'expanded' of late. Selling gets you a haircut of 3-4%, but buying means you will have to fork out between 6-11% over fix/spot price.
Because a lot of gold is moved by plane supply networks are hampered. Dealers in UK are mainly closed and those open are only operating by post..._1 -

This is not investment advice.
Your money may go "down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... I got all tricked up and came up to this thing, lookin' so fire hot, a twenty out of ten..."0 -

Cloud_dog - I think there is something not right with some of this months numbers on your spreadsheet e.g. Linton Growth and Thrugelmir.
I appreciate you keeping it updated - thanks.
On a general note - I've done some tweaking of holdings in Finellah over the last month. Will update on portfolio page at some point.

I'd be interested to know what conclusions, if any, you guys have come to in the Active v Passive debate during the current market conditions? I was a bit surprised to see that my VLS funds have held up a lot better than my income portfolio of active funds over the last month.1
