  • I can't wash up I am deaf in one ear. Just said to me in all seriousness by DS1 when I moaned about the dirty glasses and empty beer bottle that have magically appeared in my tidy kitchen. I give up, i am off to bed with my book.

Ah well, if he can't cope with a bit of hot water, soap and a glass, he can't possibly risk further injury from consuming alcohol in receptacles made from that highly dangerous substance. And he might cut himself on a ring pull, so it's back to the Panda Pops and Ribena cartons for him, then, isn't it?

Does everyone hide from the window cleaner or is it just me :rotfl:

Not me. I like my window cleaner. He saves me from buying, hanging and washing nets. And he sloshes out the bins for free because I've been chucking him a tenner for five years now, so I'm a good customer. There's almost always a tenner stashed on the fusebox in case he turns up, but on the occasions there hasn't, he's either asked when it would be convenient to pop back or told us it can wait until next time he does them.

Himself thought it couldn't make a difference and suggested that he did them - not only did I take him on a guided tour (he'd only just moved in at the time) and asked how he was planning to reach the ground floor windows when the house is built on an anti flood concrete plinth, so you can only get to about the first two foot from outside, I suggested he considered how far he could lean out and sideways twist for the upstairs ones to get to the top bits that don't open, never mind the soffits and other building related terms (meaning the white bits) that the man always cleans, too.

The cleaner's even hoiked honeysuckle out of the gutter before now and sloshed water along it for free because 'it didn't look as clean as the rest', made a point of pushing windows shut when he thinks the house is unoccupied - and he has been suspected of bunging some fresh water into the window boxes in summer, as the plants just haven't shrivelled up and died when I'd be expecting them to.

It's great being able to see out of the front windows all the time; he's come and done the back ones twice and each time, it was shocking how much brighter that half of the house is.

The only problem is that the inside of the windows never gets touched unless I'm feeling particularly energetic - and Himself doesn't quite get the importance of using pink Windowlene rather than some nasty smelling aerosol that leaves smears because he'll just use whatever kitchen cloth is to hand, whether it's got a greasy coating on it or not.

    *********************

Regretted not taking today off work as well. Felt really rough and got bawled out for not working hard enough because I was sitting down on both occasions the person concerned walked in. They then moaned about how nothing ever gets done around here. Excuse me? Just because you've dumped another ten things on me that will take ages on top of the ten things a day for the last three weeks, all of which have to take precedence over the previous days' ten things a day that take ages and are dependent upon other people doing their parts - and have to fit in with lessons/non lesson times and everything else, that doesn't mean I'm sitting here doing my nails.

Somebody else asked me at the end of the day they'd been asked to find me more things to do. I'm obviously not busy enough with all the over things. They said they'd find stuff that would take me out of direct supervision and not require much in the way of effort if I wanted, or things I'd already done but could hide away for half an hour under the guise of doing them. That's fine by me.

Very tempted to call in sick tomorrow as a result. I still feel errrrggggghhhhh.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Haha I'm not hiding from paying him, and I did have a chat with him in the street earlier. I meant when he's actually cleaning a window, I can't be in the same room lol. I went from my desk to the LR and back again so he couldn't see me sat reading:rotfl:

    Happy birthday Valli! :bdaycake:

I love my window cleaner, as he does what my DH promises and never manages. And when you've all lifted your minds out the gutter, I DO mean clean the windows :rotfl: But I do spend my time moving around the house so I can't see him!

It's been a long old day today, and I am already in my pjs. DD and I have had sausages and mash for dinner, not a vegetable in sight, and the DW is running. I have made half a dozen jars of piccalilli and I am now officially not on allotment babysitting duties any more. Hopefully no more beans or courgettes will cross my threshold for this year.

I've just been rooting around in a cupboard upstairs, and am following HB's example - 3 things have been flung. DD has been given a box of her things which she cleared out from her bedroom a couple of years ago. It's take them back or get rid of them....stuff will leave this house.

Well I cleared the kitchen of pots.... then cooked dinner... BUT!!.. and its an important but.. I did get all the oven trays and pans clean.
Half the kitchen floor mopped after Twinkle upchucked everything she had eaten for dinner.. :( poor pea has barely eaten for 3 days and is vomiting everything she does manage.
Sicky washing rinsed.. 3 times.. it wasnt lumpy sick so should be ok with 3..
OH brought washing from my room down
    Bogs harpic'd

OH has been offered 3 more interviews this week.. he is really hoping for the one he did the trial for yesterday.. but they haven't called yet so it isn't looking promising :( If we don't get him somethin else this week he has to forget about college until next year.. BUT.. that gives him time to get the personal training certification and train as a swim instructor so it could work out.. he just really wants this one from yesterday.. he liked the place, he liked the staff. The only thing he hated was putting so much food inthe bin.. it is a carvery and there was a massive amount of waste, and he was starving lol.

I'm going to get a jumper, I'm freezing.. and make a cuppa and send OH to bed!

    School trip.

I would very much like to maintain my record of 100% no vomit on the coach.

    And not lose any...

Good luck with the school trip Valli!

Yesterday's list never really happened even though I didn't sit down until 9pm. Which means today has to be a better flying day (in theory). Working all morning so lets see what this afternoon brings!

Note to self...do not open a book, sit down with cake, relax until list is completed!

I am determined to sort the cupboard under the sink every time I open it things just fall out also want to do most of the things on today's list. Bought the first of the Christmas presents for the grandchildren Yesterday as smiths toys add a offer on but that means from now until Christmas things piled on top of wardrobes I hate it but really don't have anywhere to put them.

Working from yesterday and today's list - had a manic day yesterday - had dentist and had to have a tooth extracted - was back and forth from home to dentist like a yoyo, finally pain relief after 18 months, face a bit swollen and got a fat lip this morning but this is the first time in weeks that i haven't had pain killers for breakfast....onwards and upwards - got loads to be getting on with - gonna have a really really really really really productive space (watch this space!) have fab days ladies xxx
