They usually want to know how much you expect to earn in each role. It's fairly common so they will know what you are talking about. Does the business pay you wages via PAYE payroll through? If not then it may be simplest to use your tax code on the school job, and then sort it out when you do your self assessment.
Thanks Redo. The business is a partnership so we normally split any profits 50/50 between the two partners. But I've reduced my hours to 25 a week from 37 hours so it will be more of a 75/25 split in future.
I'll ask our accountants the best way to proceed. Yes giving my tax code to the school job and sorting out the rest when we do our self assessment sounds like a good plan. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Be careful how you split the partnership. You don't want to be in the situation where one of you is paying tax & the other isn't earning enough to use all their tax allowance. It would also avoid the "passing 10% of your allowance from the non-taxpayer to the taxpayer" question.0

Thanks Badmemory
. Because I'm doing the course, volunteering and lunch time job I needed to cut down my stated hours of work on our business. I don't want to get into trouble
.
Are we allowed to split the profits 50/50 if I'm doing less hours than DH?
Neither of us have earnt enough to pay tax for the past few years. Last year we got £4,000 each, and the year before that £7,000 each. So we're well under the threshold for paying tax.

I enjoyed work as usual, it's a beautiful sunny day with not a cloud in the sky, so it was a pleasure to be working outdoors
. I'm going to struggle if there's a heatwave in the summer though  so I'll need a hat and sun cream then.
DS1 is having an assessment right now to see if he has adult ADHD. It will be interesting to see what they diagnose, if anything.
This afternoon I plan to start on my third assignment so that I don't leave it until the last minute. Although it does seem too nice to be indoors.
Our Mr T shop should be delivered this afternoon. It was nearly £70 but that's mainly my fault because my cokes cost £8. I just can't seem to kick the habit. Although it is my only vice as I don't smoke, drink alcohol (at the moment) or eat chocolate or biscuits, so there must be some money saved there. I bet some people spent more than £8 a week on booze, chocolate, cake, etc. I'm busy trying to justify myself

My day suddenly got busy!
When I got home from work DH and DS1 were at the ADHD assessment. While they were gone I tried to start on my assignment, but DH had borrowed my mouse to use with his laptop and then I couldn't get it to work with my computer . So I decided to do my assignment on my tablet. Then I was about to start work when our Mr T order was delivered. So that took a while to pack away. I finally got started on my assignment but then not long after that DH and DS1 got back. So I only managed to do one section  but I've done about 920 words so at least it's a start!
The psychiatrist says that DS1 does have some issues but she doesn't think it's ADHD. She says DS1 is complicated (I could have told her that :rotfl:) but she is leaning towards thinking that he might be on the high functioning aspergers spectrum. But she's going to discuss it with her colleagues before coming up with a diagnosis. Then she's going to write to DS1.
It will be a relief in a way to get some kind of diagnosis, because some people have been a bit judgmental and thought DS1 was just being lazy or unmotivated because he dropped out of uni (twice) and has never had a job. It will be interesting to hear the eventual diagnosis anyway and hopefully then DS1 could get some treatment :T.
In other news I asked DS3 if he was coming home on Saturday and nearly fainted when he actually answered :rotfl:. He said he has to bring his big computer home for the Easter holidays because he's building an app for his course and can we collect him . He offered to give us the petrol money. So we have reluctantly said yes. We thought we'd collect him on Saturday and come home the same day like we did when we dropped him off. It will be nice to see him anyway and he has to talk to us when he's trapped in a car with us for six hours. I'm going to be tired on Sunday though
.
DS3 seems to be getting a bursary for £500 and he said he's bought a hawaiian shirt to celebrate :rotfl:.
And in addition to all of that my aunt rang me for over an hour to tell me all about the wedding, so busy, busy, busy :rotfl:.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Having a diagnosis - that would be excellent for future plans and treatment. It's so much easier to deal with whatever it is, once you know WHAT it is.
The bit about chatting in the car reminded me of one occasion we collected DD2 from UEA. She'd been at a party the night before, hadn't done any of her packing, and announced she was going to sleep the 3-4 hrs home. Then she got in the car and talked non-stop for 3 1/2 hrs !!!
Well at least we knew what she'd been doing.0 -
Good to get some answers re DS.
Love the Hawaiian shirt purchase to celebrate
