Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Glad to hear you started to feel better. I think lending your son the money is much better than signing the lease. I wonder if the landlord is banking on everybody feeling the same way so people pay up front?
I stopped over focusing on housework a long time ago, so I'd crack on with what you think is more important to you at the moment and what makes you feel happiest. xx0 -
Yes it could be a clever strategy by the landlord to get money up front from everyone . We'll have to make sure we get a properly worded receipt in exchange for our £3,000 as it's a lot of money to hand over .Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I managed to do most of my assignment this afternoon so I'm pleased with that. Tomorrow afternoon I can finish it, check it over and email it to my tutor
.
I met my friend in our local pub for a couple of hours this evening and we had a catch up which I enjoyed. My total spends today were a diet coke after school for 80p and two diet cokes in the pub for £5.50 . I can't believe how much they charge for drinks in pubs!
We also did our Mr T order which only came to £47 including £2 delivery, so I was pleased with that price :T. Our stockpiling seems to be paying off as we seem to have tons of rice, pasta, oats, pasta sauces in jars, etc, etc. We also have a lot of frozen food we can't eat without an oven  but never mind!
I've been thinking about our cooking faciities. DS3 will be home from uni soon for the Easter holidays and he'll be outraged if he can't cook in the oven :rotfl:. But I don't want to rush into buying a new oven and I doubt if we could buy one and get it delivered and fitted in the next week and a half.
So I was wondering about buying a microwave combi oven as a stopgap. Our current microwave is very basic and is going rusty on the base. It could be useful having an microwave combi oven as well an ordinary oven at times like Christmas, or if we were cooking lots of different dishes. And it's something we could buy and start using straight away.
So can anyone recommend a microwave combi oven that we could use to oven cook or grill food as well as microwave things? Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I went to bed early but didn't sleep very well as I had a sore throat
. When I got up it was still sore and my voice was croaky and I feel a bit rough
. It's lucky I only have to work an hour and a half today as it's not a volunteering day. I'm not sure how I'll get my class in order with a croaky voice  but I'll have to do my best.
DH has been awake since 6.30am sorting out DS2's travel problems . DS2 was meant to catch a bus to North Macedonia today but the bus didn't turn up and there was no one to ask as the place was deserted. So DH rang Greece and they said the ticket office was open, which it patently wasn't.
It turns out there are two ticket offices but they neglected to mention that. Anyway when DS2 located the open ticket office to query the missing bus, they were rude to him and told him to come back tomorrow. So the Greek transport system is not covering itself in glory today .
Once I finish my work and infect everyone with my lurgy (you can't be away when you work in a school as there is no one to cover you), I need to finish my assignment and email it to my tutor!
In good news the sun is shining so we won't have wet playtime :T. It's so much easier to supervise them indoors. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I think you could get an oven delivered and fitted within a week, we were looking a while ago and it seemed fairly quick. I appreciate you said you don't want to rush it though.
We've got a Panasonic microwave/oven combi. It's really good, but you can't cook large amounts in there, you can only really do one small tray's worth at a time."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do".
