Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

It does seem a rule too far doesn't it. You're more than likely right about people doing it on the QT. Can't even seem to help each other out these days without somebody wanting to know the ins and outs of a cat's backside. Back in the 70's Mum used to look after a neighbours little one a couple of mornings a week. She was happy with a bit of extra money and the neighbour was happy she could go and do a shift at work. She always had our cousins in the holidays as well. Thinking about it the tax man probably missed out on quite a bit although my Uncle used to pay her in boxes of chocolate sometimes which us kids thought was brilliant. xx0

Quite a few people I know through friends and family have babysitters for evenings when they go out. The sitters are all tried and trusted teenagers still at school or college who do it for the pocket money. I doubt if any of them would earn enough from the job to be taxed anyway! Also I've never ever heard that you need to be registered in respect of babysitting! Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟
Finished Emergency Fund- £10,000 April 2017

https://www.gov.uk/become-childminder-nanny I've googled it and it looks as if you don't have to be registered to babysit, so that one has slipped through the government's net :rotfl:.
Certainly something for me to bear in mind.

I've never heard that one PLMBL. :rotfl:
I'm sure babysitting doesn't come under any rules or regs which leaves me wondering why you can be a babysitter but not look after children for more than 2 hours without being registered. I suppose it kept somebody in a job making up all the rules thoughxx
