Is it in London or similar??HairyHandofDartmoor wrote: »He said that the guarantee only applies to the rent and not damages, that it only covers his rent and that his housemates are asking their parents to guarantee their rent. I have a small 2 bed town house and only pay a bit more per month!
I’m sure he’s saved and knows his own budget, it just seems like an awful lot to me..

DS3 has been looking at renting private accommodation for his second year at uni. He has asked DH and I to be guarantors for his tenancy . I don't think he'll be allowed to take on the tenancy if we don't become guarantors.
Also we want to see a copy of the guarantee agreement because we only want to guarantee DS3 and not the entire house  so we need to read the small print carefully.
I feel really stressed and anxious now
.
When DD2 rented, parents weren't allowed to be guarantors, so my father, then in his late 80s (!!) volunteered. She would NEVER have dared default on him !!
Excellent idea to read the agreement carefully for exactly the reason you state. No surprises is what you want from the agreement.
Regarding your stress - I'm trying to send relaxing waves of lavender (or whatever), a bit of Ludovico Einaudi mood music, and a spoonful of your favourite ice-cream through the magic of the internet......
