  • We've heard back from most of our PPI claims now and it's a slightly mixed bag of results.

Am3x and our both of B@rclaycards have written to say that as far back as their records go, they have no proof of us having PPI. I'm sure we may have had it, but we don't have proof, so that's that :(.

N3xt asked for a form to be filled in to authorise them to investigate, so I filled it in and posted it today.

Our packaged bank accounts have both written to say that it is out of time. I'm not happy with that response, so I would like to compose a letter querying it, which DH and I could both post to our respective banks. It may not get us anywhere but it seems worth a try.

A few others have said they're looking into it and they'll get back to us.

I think the only ones we haven't heard from now are S@antander and RBS Adv@nta.

So I'm not feeling amazingly hopeful about getting any money from anyone :( but at least we've tried and that's all we can do.

Your last comment is the most important. Given that this is the last year one can claim, you would be eternally cross with yourselves if you hadn't at least tried.

Still keeping fingers crossed some payback will come of your efforts.
  • Thanks Elizabeth :). Yes we would be very cross with ourselves if we hadn't even tried to claim.

Hi HHD. We've not heard anything either. I'd like to know myself, just so we can move on from thinking about it. :o

I've been reading your diary today. I've read the old lists you found of how to save money, been shocked at how much milk and loo roll you used to get through :rotfl: and breathed a huge sigh of relief that back in Oct 2017 your creditor accepted your offer after weeks of waiting to hear from them.

Hope you manage to get some sleep tonight. xx

I'm sorry to hear that the packaged bank accounts are 'out of time'. Were they really old accounts? I have a couple from about 2007 but I haven't done anything about them because I cancelled them both after about a year and reverted back to the regular accounts that I'd upgraded from. I never used any of the 'perks' during the time I had them but it was my choice to have the packaged accounts in the first place, no one coerced me in any way, such as having to have them to get loans. I can't see I have any grounds for a claim but might anyway just in case. The worst that can happen is a letter saying 'no'.

I'm sorry you seem a bit despondent and feel there isn't much hope of receiving any PPI money. Don't give up yet as you said some are still looking into it and Next have gone so far as to send you a form. Until they give a definite 'no' there's always hope:j. If the Santander one is a storecard I'd feel quite hopeful if I were you as they upheld both my storecard PPI claims. It didn't result in much money but every little helps;)
  • I meant to ask yesterday (and apologies if you think I'm being nosy:o ) but did you have a bit of surplus money from the tax refund to get your oven fixed?

HH I left TSB in 2006 and they gave me money back for my packaged bank account , so write your letter when you have time .

As you say at least you tried and that's what matters. Hope the letting agents get back to you soon.

Oh dear they're probably doing all kinds of checks on us . Hopefully we'll both hear soon.

We still get through a lot of milk and loo roll :rotfl: but it's a bit better now DS3 is at uni. You've got a marathon reading session to do :o. Don't feel you've got to read all of it as it may take you forever :o. It was wonderful when the creditors said yes :D.

We cancelled the packaged bank accounts in 2006 and had them for several years. I will write though on the off chance. I don't feel optimistic but at least we tried.

That's interesting Cumbria. I'll definitely write to them and say I'm not satisfied with their response.

I don't think you're being nosy at all Carboot :). We do have some money left over but we're worried about spending it all as we have very little work on at the moment, so we want to hang onto as much as we can in case we need it for living expenses. If we get more work in then maybe we could get the oven fixed, or buy a new one.
