  • Take care of yourself today, try to rest and get well. Another day of a delayed PPI claim isn't going to matter in the overall scheme of things

Thank you Carboot :). I'm definitely going to rest again today. A shame because it's a lovely sunny day, but I need to get strong again to cope with everything. This cold has really knocked me for six.

I can understand how your cold has affected you as you felt you had to cancel your volunteering which you love.

I'm glad you have some sunshine even if you are only enjoying it through the window.

It's really cold, grey and sleety here at the moment:(. There was a slight dusting of snow overnight. At least the clearing of OH's shed has been put on hold for at least another day:j. He may not feel the cold but I certainly do. If he wants my help he'll have to jolly well wait until I'm ready;)

I don't remember seeing if someone had told you the final PPI reclaim date - it's 29th August, so you have a full 7 months!

Thanks for the date, badmemory:T. I wasn't sure when it was but I thought it was early Autumn-ish.

Advice seems to be to not leave it to the last minute as they are expecting a flood of applications before the deadline. They'll still process them but I assume it may mean delays in getting paid out if they have a mountain of claims to cope with.:A

Definitely make him wait Carboot .

I am definitely going to tackle it on Monday as we need money quite desperately at the moment and also I agree that there will probably be a mad rush at the end which could delay payments.

  • It's the six month anniversary since my mum died today :(. It seems not that long ago and yet it also seems a lifetime ago. I have to get used to it and move on with my life. I know that I was lucky to have her in my life for 54 years and that she would want me to have a happy life.

I slept very badly last night for a variety of reasons, and I'm still full of cold, so I haven't gone to volunteering today. Which is a shame because I could have done with the distraction. But I need to focus on getting over my cold so that I can get back to normal next week.

    .

Oh I know that feeling! Part of you thinks you've been grieving for ever, and the other part thinks it's still so raw surely it only happened yesterday.

Daisy puts the situation with your stepdad extremely well. I can only echo what she says. But your relationship with him is still to be cherished regardless of who else he may or may not be 'seeing'.

I much approve of the 'to do' list with rests built in. You can do quite a bit provided you don't expect too much of yourself.

I had my nerve ablation last week, and atm, can just about stagger round the house with my Aunt's stick (which is a beautiful turquoise one). This morning I walked round at the pace of a stagnant snail, and still managed to empty bins, put out recycling, do some washing-up, put washing on, sweep kitchen floor, put wet washing at foot of stairs for OH to take up, and put the condolence letters in a folder - and I thought I couldn't do anything at all!!!

Hope it's as sunny with you as it is here.

Thank you Elizabeth :). That is exactly how bereavement feels at this stage.

Daisy did express some very wise views extremely well and I know she is right.

You've done very well to get all of that done when you're staggering around using a stick. Were the nerves in your back? It sounds very uncomfortable .

It is beautifully sunny here too which is helping to lift my mood, even if I can't go out in it. We have a big bay window in the living room which lets in lots of light luckily :).
