Enjoy your volunteering this morning , it's a cold one here again. I am off to discover the delights of the local library after joining , I have Beanie to thank for the suggestion.
Thanks Cumbria. The radiators were on again this morning . DH doesn't want to mess with it as he says the pipes may freeze overnight otherwise. Well as long as he earns enought to pay the gas bill. The only advantage is that my washing was drying beautifully on the radiators :T.

Well done on getting the jeans shortened:j. I hate shortening trousers of any kind but jeans are the worst because the fabric is thick and harder to stitch by hand. I know you said you don't have a sewing machine so have no choice but to hand-stitch them . I still have my trusty old friend but can't even be bothered to get it out and set it up just for a pair of trousers:o:eek:. So, like you, I put it off as I hate shortening trousers by hand. What a pair we are:rotfl:
It's not just my trousers either as OH always needs his trousers taking up. He buys all his clothes in the sales and never manages to find the right length at a price he's willing to pay:(
Jeans are difficult to shorten as you say but I have leather needles which are extra sharp. DH gets his trousers in MnS where they do different lengths so I don't have to take up his thank goodness.Well done on the jeans :T :T
Thanks Jwil.

I was a bit dopey last night and this morning . First I realised I'd forgotten to pack the bag I take with my drink and smart shoes in, then I couldn't find my doork key. And then I was halfway to school when I realised I'd forgotten my handbag . After a few seconds of panic I realised that I could manage without it as I had my flask, shoes and phone with me. But it meant I couldn't buy a coke on the way home. On the plus side it saved me 78p :T. Then at break my drink leaked on me and I realised I hadn't screwed the lid on properly .
This is totally unlike me as normally I'm very organised and get ready meticulously the night before. DH says maybe I'm a bit absentminded because of DS3 going back to uni this weekend.
I do have a lot on my mind because it's DS2's birthday tomorrow and then on Sunday we have to drive DS3 back to uni. DS3 has bought a large computer so asked if we could drive him back. DH said yes if he gives us £60 towards the petrol and DS3 agreed. We're going to try and go there and back in a day, so need to try and leave by 8am at the latest .
So I do have a lot to think about!
My actual volunteering went well luckily :T. This afternoon I need to:
Wrap up DS's presents
Write in DS2's card
Wash more laundry
Check we have all the ingredients for the birthday dinner
I'm sure there are other things I need to do but I can't think of them at the moment. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

My teenage daughter frequently gets called this :rotfl: I Usually say she has a cob on (stroppy face) and is being a mardy mare.0 -
'Mardy' was another word my Mum often used ,along with 'nesh', both used to describe me frequently during my teenage years:o. I'm still nesh and always will be but hope I've outgrown the mardiness;).
I once told OH he was mardy but he hadn't a clue what I meant as it isn't a term used in this area. Probably just as well he didn't:rotfl:
Sorry you had a series of mishaps along the way today, HH, but as usual you took them in your stride. I hope the leaky drink didn't wet your clothes.
I can understand how you're feeling a bit disoriented with DS3 going back soon:(. How nice that he'll be at home for your other son's birthday meal:beer:.0 -
DS3 was going to go back tomorrow, but he's staying an extra day because of his brother's birthday.
I want him to go back to uni, but I'll miss him when he's gone. At least once he's gone evey day will be one day closer to him coming home again
. The only advantage of him going is that our food bill will be cheaper and I'll have less clothes and dishes to wash!

He's been home a month and he's going back for ten weeks. The holidays seem short and the terms seem long. But never mind. I'll have less housework and more time to focus on my course/volunteering
