I’m seeing that with my own ds. After several false starts, he’s now studying part time. He’s making a much better fist of it now he wants to do it rather than seeing it as almost a rite of passage. The downside for us is that it defers the point at which they are completely or almost self sufficient.
If there’s a right way to deal with your children, I wish someone would give me the handbook. Like most, I just muddle along in the circumstances that arose while keeping my fingers crossed.Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. You're right INOD if only there was a handbook :rotfl:.
You just do what seems right at the time, based on common sense, your instincts and how you were brought up. You never know if you're getting it right .
But I always think that if you love them and do your best, then usually things will turn out all right in the end.

Thank you MTG. I missed him a lot as he's never been away from home for this long before. So it's nice to have him home.

Based on my FREEZING outing to see Thomas the TE at Didcot yesterday, I hope no-one was caught out without warm clothing ! It was about zero degrees, with a hefty wind-chill factor ! Fortunately we were all wrapped up, and DGS had a padded hood to hide his head in - just imagine volunteering there - hopefully they all wore heavy-duty thermals !! It's a brilliant place to go to with small children - perhaps we'll go again in the Summer !
Enjoy the holiday with DS3, HH ! I don't think offspring have a clue how much one can miss them. And saying goodbye as they waltz off again can be quite choking. To be with one's family is a moment in time to be treasured.0 -

I feel sorry for anyone working outdoors here as it's been cold with torrential rain all weekend .
Yes it will be upsetting when DS3 goes back after the holiday. I think the best way to cope is to be busy with my own activities. Which is another reason to be glad about the course I'm doing.

We've finished the work on my business, for today :T.
Since then I've been busy peeling potatoes and washing our big saucepan, which had the remains of last night's curry in, ready for stepdad to come to dinner.
It's lucky I have been busy because the weather is awful again .
DS3 is working in the kitchen as he says it's the warmest room in the house. He said he wore his clothes in bed last night because he was cold. It turns out he doesn't have any pajamas  . So I suggested he buys some warm pajamas to wear at home.
He's got used to a warm modern flat and now he's in a cold draughty old house. He'll be be glad to go back to uni at this rate. But we literally cannot afford to put the heating on at the moment
.

Two layers of fleece pjs and a hot water bottle and he'll be snug and warm! Oh, and socks.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Can you give DS a hot water bottle? Or any spare blankets? I'm sure he understands. Mine are a lot smaller and understand to wear extra layers/socks/slippers etc.
Hope you had a lovely evening
