Well done on that awesome list :)
Have a lovely meal with your family:beer:. You've certainly earned it. Your DH sounds like an absolute treasure. My OH hasn't a clue in the kitchen:eek:. When my Mum was alive I used to go to visit her and stay for a week quite regularly so I could take her out to places she couldn't get to on the bus and help her with big jobs like decorating or gardening. It was a long way away, several hours driving. OH never came with me, let's just say they didn't get on:eek:

I used to buy all sorts of food to put in the fridge to keep him going whilst I was away, things that just needed the minimum of cooking/heating up. There were always pre-cooked portions of meals in the freezer too, I've always been keen on batch-cooking especially when I was working full-time.

Needless to say he never touched any of it, I bet he only ever opened the fridge to get the milk out for his cornflakes and cups of tea:rotfl:. He used to grumble that whenever I went away it cost him a fortune in meals out (plus petrol for the round trip of 15 miles to the nearest restaurant or pub that did meals). His problem I'm afraid, I certainly wasn't going to reimburse him for the money he'd spent dining out.
Brilliant work on the jobs list today HHOD!!! xx

Thanks all. It was hard work but they seemed to enjoy it. I cook most days but DH likes to cook if we have people around. Your OH is certainly helpless in the kitchen Carboot!

I'm glad we had family around for dinner this evening as it was a distraction. Today is the eight week anniversary of my mum dying, and the four year anniversary of my sister dying. So it was nice to have my aunt, uncle and stepdad here for dinner to keep my mind on other things.

They seemed to enjoy DH's mince curry (lentil curry for me) on brown rice and we did apple strudel and ice cream for dessert. There is some of the lentil curry left which could be tomorrow's dinner for me. We owed my aunt and uncle a meal and they are lovely, polite people.

    Thanks INOD and Purplemum.

My stepdad was too busy to go food shopping with me today. Just as well in a way because if one of our late payers doesn't pay then we can't afford to go. Fingers crossed for a payment today, as one said they would pay yesterday afternoon (they didn't) and the other said they they would process the payment yesterday (we haven't received it yet). Sigh.

I have lots of clearing up to do after last nights dinner, we were too tired last night to do more than put leftovers in the fridge. After that if we haven't been paid I'm not sure what to do. I could go for a walk in the park maybe, and finish opening our post mountain, plus our laundry basket has mysteriously filled up again.

My top priority is to make sure DH can get work done, so future dinner parties should be weekends only as he had to finish work at 5pm yesterday. I'm doing all the housework and cooking (apart from dinner parties) so that should free up DH to work. We need to get more money coming in.

The sky is a leaden grey again but perhaps it wil brighten up. I have no plans for the rest of this week which is not good, and I don't even know if I can afford to go food shopping today :(.

Anyway I need to stop moaning and start clearing.

  • GRR to late payers, fingers crossed that the money comes in today.

I'm sure that the laundry multiplies overnight, ours seems to never end.

One of our late payers has just paid :) so we can do our food shop, or rather I will do it while DH works in the cafe.

I've already put the dishwasher on once, some laundry is washing, and I've cleaned two doors (we have panelled doors which I love but they collect dust in the grooves). Getting paid has energised me, so when we get back I'll do some more door cleaning and dust the bookcase in the bathroom which badly needs it.
