What a lovely long post - thank you for catching us up !
Weather is horrible here too, the aerial making groaning noises and all sorts of things being re-arranged in the garden !!
Still ,Sunday with DD2 and DGS was unexpectedly lovely, we were ready with coats and there was hot sun. Played hangman on the patio and innumerable versions of 'hunt the clothes-pegs' - I love making games out of 'nothing'.
Glad to hear you made good time taking DS3 back to uni. You're right, you never stop missing them. I am lucky to have one daughter only 40mins away.6 -
I’m pleased you had a good journey back with ds. I wouldn’t be surprised if he does a stint in the city and then gets the calling for Devon again....they often go full circle. I’m presuming the job situation will be better int he city for him. Those 3 years have gone so quickly- doesn’t seem 5 minutes since you took him for the first time.
The weather is dire here too.....to think ds got sunburnt yesterday as he’d forgotten to take his sun cream with him when we went out. He’d be in danger of getting windswept today if we went out.
Here’s hoping you get better weather tomorrow when you go back to school.January spends - £587.586 -
Glad you had a good trip back with DS. Hope you've had a restful day today."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee5

Good to hear from you and that all is well apart from missing your DS. The weather is dire here too, wasn’t too bad until just after lunch when the heavens opened. I think it’s the same all over the country today.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6

Weather here is dire too. I love your 'biblical' description of it. Still, this is Cumbria and we're as famous for the rain as we are for the lakes!
One of our toilets won't flush. It's something to do with the plunger thingy in the cistern. We've other loos so it isn't a crisis but I'm cross because this one is the only modern one we've had installed and is the first to go wrong. DH has been trying to fix it for most of the afternoon and there's now as much water on the bathroom floor as there is on the patio! He could cope with the tradition ones with the floating 'ball' thing but this one looks as if it needs a whole new siphon unit.
You deserve the new tops, HH. You work hard and what with DS going back and all the Covid stuff you shouldn't feel guilty about treating yourself. They'll be useful and aren't exactly fripperies. Enjoy them. I hope school goes well tomorrow.

Glad DS3 got back safely and you two got home okay. I think about DD going to uni (It's a long time off yet) and it feels me with anxiety about how quiet it will be here. She might never go but I'm already dreading the empty room!
The weather here can't make its mind up. Sunny, raining, wind, hail and everything else too.

You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x6 -
Another here pleased you had a safe journey taking DS3 back to uni. Yes - you never stop missing your children! You mentioned Bristol as a city that you'd like him to settle after uni as he is keen to experience working in a big city. I hear that it is very vibrant with a plenty of life for young people to experience. Keep selling it to him!😀
The weather has been very changeable here too! Wind and rain one minute - sun the next! Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

I know you mentioned Birmingham as a place DS would like to work in, HH, and that it's not very convenient for you but if it's the best option for his career it should really be his choice to move to where his opportunities are best. After all, he might find a partner or get married fairly soon anyway and you wouldn't be seeing all that much of him wherever he moved to if Devon isn't an option for him. I worked in Birmingham for the first two years after I qualified and loved every minute there. I'd go back in a heartbeat. I also spent a year working in Sheffield, my favourite city of all, but that's even further away from Devon.New Challenge: Tilly Tidy as much as possible in 2022. Running total to 26 Feb: £183.77

Here’s hoping you get better weather tomorrow when you go back to school.. It would be lovely if DS3 wanted to come back to Devon one day. He could probably get a job anywhere to be honest as his work could be home based, but he wants to live in a city for the social life.
