Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Our fences are finished ๐๐๐. Our builder came back at 8am this morning and finished the short side fence and did a little right angle bit on the long side just to give us privacy from the back lane. I'm so pleased with it that I want to move into the garden ๐. I absolutely love it ๐. The garden is completely private now at the back and on the short side. The right angle bit of fence on the other side goes up to a climbing plant which screens us a bit, so it feels a lot more private on that side too. I get a nice surprise every time I go into the kitchen and see it ๐. I can't wait for the the nice weather to come back so we can use our garden.
I'm slightly uncomfortable about spending hundreds of pounds ๐ฑ, but on the other hand it is well worth the money for the transformation of our space and the lovely workmanship ๐. The fence posts are really thick and chunky and the overlapping wooden strips on the fence itself are really sturdy too and well made. We could never have done such a good job ourselves.
In non fence related news school was good and I dodged the rain again. I drew two chalk houses ๐ , two garages, two restaurants and a road for two of my children to play in, so I think I should get a new job as an architect ๐คฃ. It was surprisingly tiring but the children had great fun playing in them and parking their little vehicles in the garages ๐๐
I'm relaxing now with DS1 and DH while it's chucking it down with rain outside. DS1 seems to be enjoying his birthday ๐.
I hope everyone is having a good Friday. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

The usual comment when I was young when someone was asked their age was 'as old as my tongue and a little older than my teeth'I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.
happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy6 -

Great news that your fences are up! ย I wouldn't be uncomfortable about the cost - they're obviously going to give you a great deal of pleasure In enhancing the look of your garden and giving you much needed privacy. I think you wrote that the funding has come from the money you would have spent on travelling to family, etc this summer so it was already earmarked and would have been spent. ยGlad DS1 is having an enjoyable birthday. ๐Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 ๐

The fences sound amazing - I know what you mean when you say you keep getting surprised when you look out at them - I still keep looking at mine smiling- which donโt sound half as plush as yours....
I remember one of my little 6 year old charges asking how old I was when it was my birthday- I said โ21โ - he laughed and weighed me up and asked me โare you sureโ I laughed and said โwhat do you thinkโ he thought about it long and hard. ย I said โ you shouldnโt ask a lady her ageโ he went off laughing.....came back later and said โwellllllll....miss.....Iโve been working it out.....have you had a telegram from the Queen yet?โ
Cheeky monkey got an extra piece of birthday cake (it was in the days when we took cake in to share on our birthdays - canโt do that now at my school) Heโs in year 5 now and still as cheeky - in a lovely way ๐๐January spends - ยฃ587.586 -
