That's a real shame about your sea visit, I know how much you enjoy doing that.HairyHandofDartmoor said:
Today we had plans to go for a walk by the sea in the morning, but DH has had a swollen eyelid for the past few days. This is something he suffers from occasionally and puts ointment in which normally sorts it out within a few days. But this time his eye is getting worse and he had stabbing pains in the night. So I made him ring the doctor and he has a telephone appointment at 10am. The doctor asked him to text some photos and it does look gruesome 😱. I don't think he'll be up to driving as he can hardly see out of one eye. So instead of a walk by the sea I think I'll be queuing up outside B00ts to get a prescription for forty minutes 😭. Never mind, we'll have to go another time.
DH's eye sounds really painful. It was good that he was able to get such a quick appointment. Maybe he was stung or bitten on his eyelid, it once happened to my DH. There are all sorts of nasty flying bugs around at the moment. Sending hugs to both of you xx.
. I'm glad he's at the eye hospital as that's the best place for him to be. We'll have to have our sea walk another time. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Great that you could give your bench a refurb, HHoD. I know what you mean about gifts from people we have lost feeling special. I packed away everything on my fireplace ready for the alterations earlier this week & I found myself being extra careful with a little bronze cast ornament of a wren perched on a windfall apple. It was a gift from my Mum on her last ever Christmas. She chose it because I have an old apple tree in the garden & I love birds. I'd hate to break it. Hope your partner's poorly eye improves. Eye hospital defo sounds like the best place!

Thank you Foxgloves 🙂. That was a thoughtful gift from your Mum. The possessions connected with loved ones can be so precious to us.
DH is back from hospital now 🙂 and has been given some more antibiotic ointment (the one he was using was out of date, oops) to put in his eye four times a day and some antibiotic tablets too. I'm glad he went but he feels very tired now. He needs to ring them in a week and may need to go in again. They took his temperature and he wore his mask home in the taxi. The taxi driver was glad of the business anyway!
I'm ironed three tee shirts for work (I've got five clean and ironed ones already hung up but I want to get ahead of the game) and I think I'll clean the mould off the bathroom ceiling so that the day isn't a complete write off.
I've had a very confusing email from school about new arrangements for my lunchtime job, but I think I've managed to work out what's going on with the help of one of my colleagues 🤣.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Glad you've worked it out. It can be confusing what schools are doing.
Hopefully the new eye drops start to help within a day so you can get your walk.

. Yes we ought to dispose of old medicines I guess but it's finding the time. I'm hoping the antibiotics will kick in by Sunday so that we can get our walk by the sea then. It's too far to walk and I don't fancy catching the bus.

Hope the antibiotics start working soon. Is your DH ok with administering eye-drops to himself ?
My brother has had 3 eye infections via insects whilst cycling, and only one antibiotic works for him. He really ought to wear goggles but doesn't like the idea.
It's interesting to hear how things work at hospitals at the moment - a lot of people are afraid to go, and of course lots of regular appointments have been cancelled.
I phoned someone from one of my Scrabble clubs today and we were debating when the club might restart - as you may imagine it's not an activity that lends itself to social distancing

Thanks Elizabeth 🙂. DH's eye is starting to look a bit better now so the antibiotics must be starting to kick in. He can't put the eye drops in himself so I always have to do it. DS1 will have to do the lunchtime dose from Monday onwards.
It felt fairly safe at the hospital with every other seat taped off, they took DH's temperature, gave him a surgical mask to wear and of course the staff were in PPE 😷.
Yes it's hard to imagine social distancing whilst playing scrabble 🤔.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
