Brilliant news about both the TA work plus finishing all your assignments (what a weight off your mind).
Personally I think as you've got a good system in place for dealing with any possibility of bringing the virus home with you, and bearing in mind the welcome money and furthering your career, the balance is in favour of accepting the work.
But of course only you can be making such decisions.
The wonderful thing is to be asked - I'm sure they're glad there's a reliable person to call on.5 -
Hi HHD
Just adding my voice to everyone else's to say well done on finishing your assignment and being asked to do TA cover. I can understand the worry of infection but from what you've said you have some meticulous procedures in place so hopefully everything will be OK. Is your school taking the 3 year groups back the Government has mentioned? Somebody I know has already been told their Y1 child won't be asked to go in as they've decided to only have Y6 back before the summer holidays.
It's a shame DS won't be home for summer but maybe he's best staying where he is especially as there's talk of individual areas/towns possibly having to go into lock down in future. It'd be a shame if something happened in your area and he couldn't get back to Uni for whatever reason.
Hope you get all your jobs done so you can put your feet up on Sundayxx

Great news about the extra work. Well done for getting the assignments out of the way too. I’ve been reading guidance sent out to all schools this morning and looked at how my school is administering it to suit us. I can honestly say I think they’ve made it as safe as possible...and are prepared to change it with little notice if anything has been overlooked or doesn’t pan out as expected. It’s reassured me - has your school sent you the guidance - might be worth asking if they haven’t.

We do need the money and if I say no they'll ask someone else to do it, which could kill my chances of a possible future job. Also I think the school are doing their best to keep staff and children safe with new distancing/hygiene measures.

. I'm very relieved to have finished all my assignments as I'm going to be so busy from now on. Yes the school is taking all three year groups but only on a part-time basis to keep classes smaller than the government suggested.

. Yes school have sent guidance which I read a couple of weeks ago but I need to read it again and refresh my mind. They are having very small classes, only eight per class children in Year 1 and are putting in place all kinds of measures to minimise contact, with staggered starting and finishing times etc. There's even going to be a one way system in the staff room and staff being asked to bring food and drink from home to avoid touching the kettle/fridge, etc.
It's all going to be very strange but it will keep us safer.

You may find that there's very little take-up of places anyway. My niece is Head of a sizeable Primary school, children from Nursery to Year 6. They sent 'feeler' letters to all parents in relevant year groups asking if they would be likely to send their child in and the potential take-up of those eligible was just under 10 % ! Obviously this was not a definite commitment, my niece and the senior staff wanted a rough idea to help with planning the staffing levels needed. There could be more or less but they are certainly not expecting a fraction of those who are eligible.
