Have you tried hot lemonade for your blocked nose? I have absolutely no idea how it works, but it does seem to most of the time. It even works with diet lemonade (the 17p a bottle version too) although not quite as well as it does with the non diet kind. But it does avoid taking medication.

I've tried Lemsip in the past but not hot lemonade. I'll have to give it a try. My mum swears by a Vick stick :).

  • Absolutely with you on the rubbish. The bin men took our cardboard mountain away this morning which made me happy.

I'm glad I'm not the only one redo. I've been through the last five bags so our garden is finally rubbish free :T:T:T:T:T. I'm so pleased :j. DS2 had better not clear out his room again before Christmas . Our wheely bin is only half full so I can empty all the bins in the house into it now .:D DH might need another trip to the tip after Christmas mind you.

I've also got an old pair of jeans of mine, some evening sandals I've never worn and two old bulky jackets of DH's to take to the charity shop tomorow. Our bedroom is starting to look less cluttered, but there is still a long way to go. De-cluttering always makes me feel good when I have time to do it :D.

  • All the bins in the house are now empty, some laundry is washing and the dishwasher is on. My list of clutter for the charity shop is growing:

    One pair of jeans
    One tee-shirt
    One pair of evening sandals
    Two padded jackets

I've also thrown away a pair of DS3's old trainers and DH's old trackies. I'm on a roll :D.

I keep having to rest in between due to my pesky head cold, or I would've got a lot more done by now.

DH is helping DS2 sort out the council tax on his flat. He hasn't paid it for six months so I should think it will be with the baliffs by now . We didn't know he hadn't been paying it until he got back from America . Still most problems can be solved by paying money in my experience and DS2 has the money, he just doesn't open his letters .

DH is also getting to get DS2 to write a letter giving a month's notice on his flat (DS2 didn't know you had to) to reduce his financial liability. DS2 is learning a few life lessons today.

I'm really enjoying not shopping today. It would have been a no spend day but we had to pay £3 to collect a parcel from the post office because the sender had underpaid . It was a present DS1 had ordered from Etsy for a friend. DS1 is going to threaten bad feedback unless he gets the £3 refunded as he paid £2.90 postage for the item .

Well done to DS3 and his university offer :) Glad you're getting DS2 sorted, kids can be so infuriating, my DD is the same with letters.

How annoying about the postage, hope it gets refunded.

As you know we've done some serious decluttering this year. I think we've kept our local skip hire in business. Still have a few bits but our local council is picking up for free in January and February so will take advantage of that.

Hope you get another shopping free day today :)
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
  • I will be shopping today SA but just my usual Saturday ramble around the charity shops, so a much more relaxed affair :).

My cold made me restless in the night and I woke up with a headache :(. I'm hoping it will go now I'm up and about. I can't believe it's Christmas eve tomorrow .

    I still need to:

    - Wrap up all the presents
    - Clean out the furry moron
    - Vacuum the downstairs
    - Clean the bathroom
    - Tidy up and de-clutter

I doubt if I'll get all of that done, but I'll see how it goes.

Have a lovely Saturday everyone :xmassmile:rudolf::snow_grin

Sorry I haven't been around much but have just had a catch-up of all your doings. You cram so much in to every day it puts me to shame:o. Sorry to hear you are suffering with a cold, I'm the same at the moment and I never get colds as a rule. Mine was just an irritating tickly cough which kept waking me up but this morning it's turned into a streaming nose too. Good job I haven't anything urgent to do with us having an even lower-key Christmas than usual because of the electric situation.

Just thought I'd mention that it might be worth your checking whether your local charity shops take old, unwearable, tatty and generally 'past it' clothes. Several of ours do and it goes to recycling into such as carpet underlay (it used to anyway) and that sort of thing. The charities are always glad of it. They say to bag it up separately from donated wearable clothes and label the bag so they don't have to sort through everything. Just thought of mentioning it when you said your DH threw his old jacket in the bin.

Enjoy your latte:coffee:, you certainly deserve it. I'm a tea gal myself. More of a tea addict really:o.

Sorry you're full of cold but yay on the decluttering front. Parents visited yesterday so we did the usual thing of shoving everything upstairs out of sight. Plan was to sort it all out today but I'm not feeling very motivated tbh. :p
